This is an entry level position with a primary focus on performing daily operational budgeting transactions, supporting budget processes, and assisting customers with budget variances. This position will be expected to provide excellent customer service to campus users by providing satisfactory solutions to their concerns in a timely manner. Furthermore, budget office personnel work collaboratively with other financial offices on campus to assist with all aspects of processing financial transactions as they relate to budget for the university. In addition, this position will assist with the creation of master data elements as requested to support the account structure within the university’s ERP system.This is an excellent position for a recent graduate or early-career professional looking to start their career in finance and budgeting. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, have strong analytical skills with attention to detail, proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial software, and good organizational abilities.Job DutiesAssist with the triage of Budget Office inbox, assess the request, and take action by routing to correct team member, seeking proper approvals, or taking corrective action depending on the customer request.Process basic budget functions, including SAP testing, creating budget addresses, daily review of departmental budget adjustments, daily RIB processing, uses of reserves, and estimated income.Provide research and resolutions for departmental over budgets/budget hard stops including support for back-office processors.Assist with the creation of process documentation for budget.Assist with the creation of forms and resources requested to better assist customers or improve current processes.Work collaboratively in a team environment to assist budget managers on a variety of issues as they relate to budget variances including HR actions, expense processing, budget policy, procedure, and allowable usage of their funding.Assist in preparation of the annual budget by updating the budget system, running queries, preparing spreadsheets and other documentation.Assist lead trainer with training in one-on-one, small group, and large group settings for campus budget managers and their assigned budgetary assistants.
