General Manager

General Manager provides leadership and manages the manufacturing operations and support departments to achieve optimal levels of productivity, quality, and safety to assure internal and external customer satisfaction.

Essential Functions:

1. Oversee compliance to all internal and OSHA required safety procedures.
2. Identify training needs within the plant and review current training programs.
3. Provide leadership through adherence to all company policies and procedures.
4. Responsible for financial performance of the plant.
5. Provide support for corporate activities: Quoting, Costing, Procedure development.
6. Directly supervises up to 8 direct reports in a 400+ employee, 200,000 sq ft plant.
7. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.

Responsibilities include:

1. Training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work;
2. Appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees;
3. Addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Additional Responsibilities:

1. Perform administrative/functional management of all elements of the operation.
2. Drive plant activities toward achieving customer awards and certifications (QS-9000).
3. Interface with customers and suppliers as required.
4. Monitor and drive continuous improvement activities in all departments of the operation.
5. Maintain high standards of housekeeping.
6. Provide direction and leadership consistent with the plant's business plan goals.
7. Identify key measurables that support business plan goals.
8. Manage the process technology expertise to keep a competitive advantage.
9. Provide leadership to meet customer expectations in all areas.
10. Manage the business plan, its objectives and revise as necessary.

Work Environment:

1. The employee is regularly exposed to working in the manufacturing environment and work with moving mechanical parts.
2. The employee must not wear any loose-fitting clothing that may get in the way of the moving machinery.
3. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme heat and vibration.
4. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Qualifications:

1. Business or Engineering degree or equivalent degree; and ten years related experience or supervisory experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. Manufacturing background in plastics preferred.
