The Applied Technologies business area of Fisica Inc, in San Leandro, CA focuses on developing cutting edge pulsed power systems, x-ray radiation sources, high-voltage switches & power-conditioning components. These core technologies are applied to build systems for flash x-ray imaging, electron beam sterilization, and for simulating radiation environments, such as space or a nuclear blast, to study how electronics, optics, and materials are affected by x-ray radiation. The largest pulsed power systems built here produce millions of amps at millions of volts, delivered within nanoseconds. Succeeding in these fast-paced, demanding conditions requires being able to manage a talented team of curious, passionate scientists, designers, technicians, and engineers as well as coordinate across multiple support disciplines (e.g. contracts, procurement, quality, finance/accounting, etc.). Fisica conducts both R&D and manufacturing to serve a mix of government and commercial customers.


We are seeking a senior program manager to lead one or more programs to deliver a major new accelerator capability critical to national defense. The ideal candidate has broad knowledge of program management processes and procedures for the DoD and/or DOE. Experience with rigorous reporting requirements (formal systems engineering, EVMS, etc.) and a technical (engineering) background is a plus. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directs all phases of DoD, DOE, and commercial programs from inception through completion. At this level projects have a typical value of up to $70-80M total scope and durations of 2-8 years.
  • Drives program execution in order to achieve key business and financial objectives for orders, revenue recognition, operating income, and free cash flow for new, continuing, or current programs.
  • Responsible for the cost, schedule, and technical performance of company programs or subsystems of major programs.
  • Establishes the project plans, milestones, and framework for executing complex programs and proposals.
  • Coordinates the work performed by cross-functional teams, ensuring proper guidance and support of program activities.
  • Monitors and controls the expenditure of program allocated funds.
  • Works with the Program Scheduler to establish and maintain/status the integrated master schedule (IMS) for the program.
  • Communicates the status of the program to customers and company leadership throughout its lifecycle.
  • Monitors and coordinates subcontract and supplier activities in support of assigned program(s).
  • Develops and maintains customer contacts and conducts marketing to gain follow-on or new program related work.
  • Timely and cost-effective accomplishment of contractual commitments and contributes to achievement of departmental goals and operating plans with direct impact on departmental results.
  • Travels to customer and supplier locations when required (for meetings, design reviews, monitoring equipment installation, etc.).
  • Reports to the Direct of Program Management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or similar with a minimum of 9 years of prior relevant experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
  • Strong communication (in oral and written English) and interpersonal skills.
  • Technical background with military / defense or national laboratory experience.
  • Ability to obtain a future Security Clearance is required for the role. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Physical abilities: working at a desk/computer and ability to travel.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Experience with DOE 413.3B project management protocols and/or NNSA programs.
  • Experience with at least one project scheduling tool (MS Project, Primavera P6, etc.).
  • Highly fluent in Microsoft PowerPoint and SharePoint.
  • Detail oriented individual with a positive outlook, excited to help us shape the future of Fisica.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $122,500 - $227,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as the final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. Fisica Inc. also offers a variety of benefits, including relocation stipend, 401(k), PTO, EAP, and company-paid holidays. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, and schedule type.
