Our client is a $1B+ food manufacturer, searching for a Packaging Manager who will report to the VP of Research & Development.

Position Summary: As a Packaging Manager, you will play a critical role in shaping our company's packaging strategies and processes. This position requires a deep understanding of packaging specification management systems and a strong technical proficiency in food packaging solutions. You will collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to innovate and implement effective packaging designs that drive business growth and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Serve as the Subject Matter Expert for our packaging specification management system.
  2. Partner with internal teams including R&D, plants, operations, and brand management, as well as external packaging suppliers and customers.
  3. Lead packaging projects from concept through commercialization, ensuring they meet timelines, budget, and quality expectations.
  4. Utilize expert knowledge of food packaging processes, materials (corrugated, flexible film, plastics), and equipment to develop and optimize packaging solutions.
  5. Manage and execute studies on printing and label application processes.
  6. Contribute to the regulatory aspects of packaging under the R&D department, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  7. Optimize packaging configurations for storage and shipping, including specification of boxes, palletization, and dialings.
  8. Drive initiatives in sustainable packaging, focusing on innovative materials such as PCR and recyclable flexible film.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience in food manufacturing.
  2. Minimum of 4 years of packaging engineering experience, preferably in food manufacturing, with a proven management track record.
  3. Broad technical skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (advanced Excel).
  4. Demonstrated ability to lead significant packaging projects that enhance both the top and bottom lines.
  5. Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with various internal and external stakeholders.

This role is based in Cincinnati.
