We are seeking a Senior Engineer to help take our web application and tech stack to the next level. We are looking for a dynamic engineer who is no stranger to rapidly building well-designed, performant and effective web applications and API framework/components needed for web applications that support complex business rules and flows.
What You'll Do
- Work in an open source PHP framework that generates front-end code (HTML, CSS, JS), making you a backend-first, but full-stack, web developer
- Design, develop and maintain mobile and customer-facing API
- Build shared services that serve many applications and scale independently
- Tap into our valuable data sources and build incredible features for our customers
- Contribute to that open source PHP framework when required
- Provide constructive feedback on pull requests to increase code quality including mentor other developers when required
- Ensure software developed adheres to quality standards through code and design reviews
- Collaborate with other team members at various role levels and contribute your valuable technical opinions
- Deliver transformative solutions to customers aligned with industry best practice
- Provide input towards technical and functional innovation
Your First 90 Days
In your First 30 Days, with the support of your Team Lead and our engineering leadership, you will participate in our virtual immersive training, enabling you to learn our product, team, and tech stack. You will join your Scrum Team and work to better understand our current product offering and roadmap commits.
In your First 60 Days, along with user stories and product features, you will help your team work on a backlog of technical infrastructure work identified by your Team/Tech Lead in your First 30 Days.
In your First 90 Days, you will play a meaningful role in delivering on our roadmap items. You will have the opportunity to evaluate the strengths and opportunities of our team and tech stack and, in partnership with your Team/Tech lead, chart a go-forward plan to improve both.
Who You Are
- 5+ years experience developing complex web B2B applications
- Mastery of object-oriented paradigms and patterns
- Strong back-end developer, Proficient in SQL
- Working knowledge of PHP
- Understanding of some rapid web development framework
- Proficiency with web services and development of REST-based interfaces, including experience with JSON
- Prior experience architecting and developing public APIs
- Ability to flesh out user stories to be consumed by the rest of the team
- Experience working in a fast-paced, Agile (Scrum, Kanban) environment
- Comfortable collaborating on technical design
- Bachelor's in Computer Science
Your Differentiators
- Expertise in one or more: PHP, Postgres, JavaScript, jQuery, CSS, React.JS, MSSQL, or more advanced database features
- Skills with database design and optimization
- Ability to collaborate with team members remotely
- Experience introducing a 3rd tier (API) into a monolithic stack
- API and middle tier Unit Testing frameworks
- Strong understanding of the web request/response lifecycle and API design (i.e., versioning, isolation and microservice architectures)

The salary range for this opportunity is $132,000 – 145,000 per year. You will be eligible for employee equity as well as discretionary bonus compensation, subject to plans that may be in effect from time to time.
