Travel Nurse RN - PCU in Louisville, KY

Job Title: Registered Nurse

Job Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM, every other weekend
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
Experience: Minimum of 2 years
License: Kentucky RN License
Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH Stroke Scale Certification
Must-Have:
- Proficient in cardiac monitoring and IV therapy, including PICC line management and dressing changes
- Experience in administering IV medications, including antibiotics and various drips (e.g., heparin, nitroglycerin, amiodarone, cardizem)
- Tracheostomy management
- Intermediate/step-down care experience
Job Description:
- Provide patient care in a pulmonary intermediate step-down unit
- Manage BiPAPs, high flow, and telemetry monitoring; occasional cardiac drips
- Handle equipment and manage diverse patient needs in a unit with a 21-bed capacity
- Maintain patient ratios of 4:1, adjusting to 5:1, and at times 3:1 for BiPAP teams
- Float to other PCU or Med-Surg units as required
- Work collaboratively with a positive attitude, demonstrating flexibility in patient assignments and unit changes
- Exhibit strong critical thinking skills in high-stress situations
- Create a supportive environment with a good sense of humor to help relieve team stress and foster patient trust
- Follow a dress code requiring galaxy blue tops and blue or black bottoms
