Position Summary
The Director of Operations position is full-time, 40 hours per week (exempt, benefits eligible). The Director of Operations will report to the Chief Operations Officer and will help support a team of Directors who implement daily operations at any of our NLC locations. The Director of Operations is responsible for overseeing company operations and employee productivity, building a highly inclusive culture that ensures team members can thrive and that organizational goals are met. Will require some local travel (reimbursable). Pay commensurate with experience. This position is in-person.
Job Responsibilities
- Maintains and directs the daily operations of NLC including coordinating with human resources, legal, marketing, warehouse, accounting, IT and other departments.
- Travels to different sites in various communities based on program/team needs.
- Clearly communicates goals, objectives, and new information to team.
- Assists team by providing technical support in a timely manner as needed/requested.
- Assures Department alignment with strategic goals, objectives, and policy.
- Assures Department alignment with compliance and grant requirements.
- Analyzes internal operations and identifies areas for process enhancement.
- Creates and leads training for staff development with COO and Executive team.
- Oversee company operations and employee productivity, building a highly inclusive culture that ensures team members can thrive and that organizational goals are met.
- May work closely with Director of Data and Program Evaluation and Grants Manager to ensure deliverables are being met as stated in executed contracts.
- Stays informed and up to date on compliance requirements for specific departments.
- Participates in reporting as requested.
- Approaches leadership from a coaching/modeling lens.
- Works with the Finance Department to communicate budget needs and/or changes.
- Is a main contact person and representative for the Operations department.
- Produces documents, receipts and correspondence regarding activities and progress as necessary for consistent evaluation of operations and timely report submittal.
- Provides regular follow-up with Departments to meet goals.
- Utilizes data/metrics to identify needs for improvement.
- Assists in annual budget process and strategic planning.
- Approves credit card reports and timecards.
- Communicates with Executive team regularly to ensure cohesive information sharing.
- Implements regular evaluations and surveys with Directors, participants, and team to monitor quality of programming.
- Supervision includes on-site visits, regular check-ins, and break-out planning meetings.
- Encourages collaboration with partner relationships where possible.
- Evaluates effectiveness of operation practices and strategies with emphasis on best practices and research-based methods.
- Maintains accuracy of budget and spending plan, as well as all required documentation such as receipts.
- Participates and leads required evaluations and audits.
- Demonstrates New Life Centers’ values.
- Attends required meetings and trainings.
- Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Skills & Qualifications
- Must become a Certified Mandated Reporter. Training provided.
- Must pass a background check, must not have any pending cases.
- Must pass a Child Abuse and Neglect Tracking System background check.
- Must pass a National Sex Offender Registry background check.
- Must have a working phone and phone number.
- One year experience working in the human services field in a capacity that involves direct services to at-risk youth.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in managing people.
- Cross-cultural competency.
- Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Must be willing to be trained, and proficiently utilize database(s) and information tracking systems relevant to duties.
- Must keep confidentiality of participant and staff information.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Valid Illinois driver’s license, insurance, good driving record, access to a vehicle. Subject to driving background check.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.
