Job Summary and Qualifications

The Senior Director Pharmacy Contracting is responsible for negotiating industry-leading national agreements for the group purchasing organization in the assigned area. The objective is to ensure best-in-class industry pricing and contract terms and conditions.

What you will do in this role includes:

Project Management:

  • Ability to independently plan and execute project timelines for assigned categories.
  • Demonstrated level of organizational ability and attention to detail.
  • Ability to translate objectives into project planning priorities, create and manage work plans and timelines for multiple projects, and finalize negotiations within designated timeframes.
  • Ability to handle a high volume of contracts/categories without sacrificing quality.

Category Knowledge:

  • Recognized as an expert in contracting discipline (e.g., nursing, surgery, capital, non-medical, PPI, etc.) and thorough category knowledge of portfolio.
  • Understanding of cost drivers (direct and indirect) and market information interpretation.

Strategy Development, Validation, and Risk Mitigation:

  • Develops the contract strategy and leads team members to accomplish strategic objectives.
  • Works closely with customer IDNs to develop a strategy that aligns with customer needs and meets organizational objectives.

Sourcing Process:

  • Thorough understanding of the sourcing process for assigned portfolio, including market research, bid preparation, RFI, RFP, and contract negotiations.

Supplier and Customer Relationship Management:

  • Foster excellent working relationships with key suppliers and negotiate master/corporate templates.
  • Represent HealthTrust at industry events and organizational projects.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Accredited College Bachelor's Degree required (Supply Chain, Healthcare, Business, Finance).
  • 7+ years of relevant work experience preferred, with strategic sourcing and contract negotiation experience.
  • Healthcare knowledge is preferred.
