Job Title: Electrical Automation Technician
Location: Washington, Tyne & Wear
Salary: £42,132 (plus shift allowance where applicable)
What you’ll be doing:
- Providing technical support to existing systems to support operations
- Modifying PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems, and documenting the amendments in line with BMS requirements
- Updating/upgrading existing control systems and modifying existing processes to add new functionality
- Performing planning maintenance activities and maintaining system backups
- Responding to breakdowns and completing breakdown reports to support maintenance in the creation of Planned Predictive Maintenance plans
- Providing support to the roll out of security driven changes, and acting as a liaison between operations and security teams
- Working within high standards of Health and Safety, whilst ensuring the quality of the product is maintained
- Leading and supporting Continuous Improvement activities and initiatives
Your skills and experiences:
- Time served - 4 Year Electrical/Electronic Engineering (or similar) Apprenticeship
- Experience and demonstrated knowledge of programming PLC, and HMI systems
- Proficiency and ability to program robotic systems
- Background in working with automated manufacturing processes
- Ability to maintain effective control documentation and to apply structured risk assessment methodologies
- An understanding of Industrial Control systems networks and systems
- Prior experience in assessing and ensuring systems comply with industry good practice

The Automation Control team:
An exciting opportunity has arisen due to an increase in production, new equipment, and the introduction of more complex machinery and robotics being introduced to the business. Within this team you will be reporting into the Maintenance Supervisor, and you will work alongside the wider Maintenance team, Engineering, and Operations to deliver support to the production and capital investment programmes. You will have the chance to work on exciting and emerging technologies and there may be the opportunity for travel within the UK.
