POSITION SUMMARY:

The Jewish Federation of Cincinnati is seeking a passionate senior leader with a commitment to Jewish community and public policy issues to lead the Jewish Community Relations Council.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

The Jewish Federation of Cincinnati mission is to develop and connect leaders, contributors, organizations, and ideas to build an inclusive Jewish community that helps people in need, supports Israel, and assures a vibrant Jewish future.

The JCRC is a unique department of the Jewish Federation with a board and bylaws. The JCRC’s role is to protect and advance the security of the Jewish community locally and in the Jewish State of Israel. To accomplish its mission, the JCRC develops meaningful relationships with ethnic, religious, civic, business and academic leaders and strengthens ties with our policy makers. The JCRC Director is responsible for leading the JCRC in implementing this mission and programmatic direction.

Objectives:

  1. Combat antisemitism, discrimination and hate.
  2. Promote Israel’s security by responding to efforts to delegitimize Israel.
  3. Develop and advance relationships with civic, ethnic and religious leaders and communities.
  4. Work with the JCRC lay leadership to prioritize issues for engagement.
  5. Serve as a resource for local organizations and agencies.
  6. Manage Federation government relations efforts.
  7. Promote the strategic interests of the community.
  8. Manage the day-to-day operations of the JCRC and supervise assistant JCRC director.

Detailed Duties:

  1. Community Relations: Represent JCRC and Jewish Federation in developing relationships with key community groups and influencers.
  2. Government Relations/Advocacy: Meet with elected officials and policy makers to advocate for Jewish communal priorities.
  3. Israel Education & Advocacy: Partner with local pro-Israel organizations to grow support for Israel.
  4. Crisis Management: Participate in crisis management team and respond to community crises.
  5. Communications: Collaborate with leadership on communication strategies.
  6. Day to Day Management: Mentor and supervise Assistant Director; develop and maintain JCRC budget.
  7. Plan and Manage Leaders in Light Program: Build alliances with civic, ethnic and religious leaders.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5-10 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience developing relationships within the Jewish community and broader community.
  • Experience developing and implementing strategic objectives.
  • Advocacy experience on issues impacting the Jewish community.
  • Experience with government affairs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Executive management and supervision experience.
  • Ability to think strategically and develop long-term goals.
  • Strong public speaking skills.
  • Passion for public policy, Jewish community, and Israel issues.
  • Knowledge of political processes at all levels.
  • Ability to react quickly to changing situations.
  • Ability to represent diverse viewpoints and consensus positions.
  • Political savvy and diplomacy.
  • Maturity in navigating professional and personal personas.
