Job Description:
We are seeking a dynamic HR Manager to oversee and manage various human resource functions. The ideal candidate will handle employee relations, disciplinary processes, policy interpretation, and HR compliance, while supporting a positive, child-friendly work environment. This role offers the opportunity to influence the growth of the HR department and contribute to the organization’s mission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise and guide staff on HR policies, procedures, and employment laws, ensuring compliance with ADA, FMLA, and other regulations.
- Provide leadership in employee relations, including investigations, disciplinary actions, and performance management.
- Develop and implement HR plans, policies, and procedures across all locations.
- Manage job descriptions, performance evaluations, and benefits administration.
- Lead recruitment efforts and oversee the onboarding process for new hires.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws in MD and VA.
- Oversee the organization’s HRIS system and assist with system transitions as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality, integrity, and compassion while managing sensitive employee matters.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
- 5-7 years of HR experience, including employment law, policy interpretation, and employee relations.
- Experience with HRIS systems (Paycom preferred) and strong proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Experience working in a nonprofit or child-friendly environment is a plus.
