PURPOSE/SUMMARY OF JOB:
The Career Services Outreach Specialist will lead efforts to promote career services by developing activities that engage students directly, fostering interest and offering support throughout MCC's service areas. This role involves establishing partnerships with local schools and businesses to provide outreach and career exploration opportunities for all students.
The MI CASA (MCC Innovating Careers, Access, and Student Achievement) project is funded through a U.S. Department of Education Developing Hispanic-Serving Institutions (DHSI) Title V grant (Award #: P031S230272). MI CASA ("my house" in Spanish) was developed to help encourage Hispanic and low-income students to feel a sense of welcome and belonging at MCC.
Working closely with the Career Services Director and the MI CASA Project Director, the coordinator will design and implement various enrichment activities. Upholding the college's Guiding Principles, this position will actively promote inclusivity, celebrate diversity, and ensure equal opportunities. Occasional travel, evening, and weekend commitments may be required to fulfill job duties effectively.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate degree from a regionally accredited institution in a field of study such as Psychology, Education, Business, or related field. A combination of education and professional level experience performing similar duties to those described for this position may substitute.
- Experience and enthusiasm for working with underserved student populations.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills with demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, prioritize, and effectively execute multiple initiatives, programs, and events. Ability to meet established deadlines.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal communication skills with ability to establish and develop productive and collegial relationships, collaboration, and communication.
- Ability to resolve complex problems and student issues, as well as work with confidential and sensitive information and records.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in writing and verbally.
- Computer skills in Microsoft Office, presentation software, and an ability to utilize database tools to track monitor and organize students and communications.
- Occasional long and irregular hours necessitated by special projects, compliance with deadlines, and committee service, including the ability to participate in evening and weekend commitments as necessary.
- Ability to travel as necessary to carry out job duties.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bilingual, Spanish preferred.
- Experience working in higher education, especially in a community college
- Experience working in a federal grant program.
- Experience in public speaking and presenting information to large groups.
- Demonstrated recruitment experience in high school or higher education.
Anticipated Start Date: September 30, 2024
Salary and Benefits:
$43,100 - $59,263, based on education, skills and experience. Benefits include health, life, dental insurance, vision, LTD & benefit package in accordance with Colorado Community College and Occupational Education System policies. No relocation assistance is provided.
