Position Summary
Responsible for recruitment of students from targeted areas and populations, including advising them on every aspect of the admissions process as well as information regarding the University. Represents University through on and off campus presentations to prospective students, their families, and guidance professionals. Assists the admissions team in meeting goals and expectations.
Education/Experience
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university (or substitution of related experience for education on a year-for-year basis). One year related experience preferred.
Valid driver's license with good driving record: must be insurable.
Knowledge/Skills/Ability
• Excellent writing skills are necessary to create reports, business correspondence, marketing brochures and publications. Must be able to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, and/or governmental regulations.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond directly to questions asked by students, their parents and the general public in a group setting and/or on a one-to-one basis.
• Math aptitude is required to calculate mathematical problems such as discounts, interest, proportions, and percentages.
• Excellent leadership and supervisory skills
• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of information
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite
• Knowledge of Colleague and Slate or experience working in a relational database, CRM preferred.
• Knowledge of social media platforms, preferred includes Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
• To properly handle and reasonably control any situation which may arise. Interpret a variety of instructions as given whether in written, oral, diagram, of schedule form.
• Ability to travel.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Physical Requirements
Medium Work: Exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Requires physical abilities consistent with a busy office environment on a university campus. Requires ability to speak for extended periods of time, lift/move boxes of University promotional materials up to 40 pounds, and drive to off-campus locations for recruitment activities. Daily work with computers, monitors, copy machines and other office equipment.
Essential Functions
• Recruit prospective students in assigned territory:
o Maintain a current knowledge of application requirements and admission criteria
o Work with students and high schools within assigned geographic territory
o Assist with development and implementation of recruitment strategies for students from backgrounds underrepresented at Stevenson
o Visit high schools and conduct presentations about Stevenson University, attend college fairs, and schedule interviews in assigned territory
o Coordinate all special events (i.e. admitted student receptions) within assigned territory
o Meet or exceed established goals set for assigned territory
• Counsel and advise students and their parents on every aspect of the admissions process including application requirements, deadlines, academic programs, activities and criteria for scholarships and financial aid.
• Develop relationships with high school- contacts to foster continued dialogue regarding Stevenson's offerings, as well as answer questions about enrollment and benefits of the University
• Assist the admissions team in meeting annual goals and expectations
• Understand and maintain current knowledge of the university's academic programs, activities, scholarships, etc.
• Maintain a working knowledge of the computer system and programs used by the admissions staff, including Colleague and Slate, Microsoft Office, etc.
• Present admissions information sessions for prospective students and their families, conduct on- and off- campus interviews with prospective students
• Review assigned student applications for admission, verify and evaluate credentials, and recommend acceptance decisions based on institutional guidelines. Provide assessments of student ability as a member of the Admissions Committee.
• Create, post, monitor, and update content on a variety of university social media platforms (including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram) to allow prospective students to receive accurate information in the setting of their choice.
• Responsible to work occasional evenings and Saturdays throughout the year
• Assist with planning and execution of numerous Open House and recruitment events, both on- and off-campus.
• Work with academic departments in identifying information necessary to the recruitment of students for their individual programs.
• Attend training workshops and conferences as a representative of the University, as well as for professional development.
• Maintain current information on admission guidelines and regulations, as well as current trends and issues within the profession.
