Location: Multi Sites in Michigan (Evart-70% & Lansing 30%)

Reporting Relationships: This person will report to the Chief Grow Officer of the company. Reporting to this role will be Production, Packaging, Shipping and Receiving activities.

Responsibilities

Since the company entered the cannabis marketplace in Michigan 5 years ago, its market profile has been growing. Today, the company is seen as one of the top cannabis growers and retailers in the state.

The company established its grow operation in mid-state, dedicated to providing cannabis products for retail sale in Michigan. The exponential growth of its retail operations (38) has led to a tripling of its production operations in Evart. As a result of this growth, there is a need for an aggressive minded leader to build up the level of “Operational Excellence” at its Michigan production sites.

This role will be charged with continuing to raise the operating standards of the production business, which is rapidly evolving. Developing the discipline that raises “top of mind” awareness for the organization and reinforces the operation as a high quality, innovative supplier of cannabis products is paramount to the organization’s future success.

The focus of this individual’s efforts will be to pull the production operations towards being seen as a world class production activity, leading the way in quality, cost and service. In addition to a bias towards operations, the ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, be detail-oriented and able to work with a sense of urgency in a fast-paced and changing setting.

This individual must be able to work in a team environment.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Implement an operations strategy to become what will be seen as a world-class operation and a market leader in customer service.
  • Improve the Company’s manufacturing discipline.
  • Direct and monitor continuous improvement, safety, quality and maintenance activities in all areas of the manufacturing operations.

Compensation: Will be commensurate with the level of compensation currently being paid in the marketplace for comparable positions, consisting of a highly competitive base salary and a bonus program. Salary range begins at $130k + bonus program.

The Candidate Education/Certifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering and/or Manufacturing Engineering.

Professional Qualifications:

  • The successful candidate must have experience leading manufacturing activities in a high-volume environment.
  • Experience setting up a manufacturing environment with rigorous quality and delivery requirements.
  • Thorough knowledge and experience utilizing employee empowerment and open communications systems.
  • Proven track record of implementing plant operational reporting metrics, continuous improvement, and cost reduction activities.
  • Packaging experience of consumer products is ideal.
  • Ability to build and implement a tactical manufacturing plan.
  • Solid financial aptitude and solid computer knowledge with evident business acumen.
  • Understanding and proven application of the concepts of synchronous operations and lean production manufacturing methodologies.
  • An appreciation of proactive management practices in a non-union environment.
  • Excellent planner and proven ability to manage multiple facets of manufacturing.
  • Organized. Establishes objectives and goals, and then sees that they are met. Has sense of urgency. Challenges and encourages the organization.
  • Technically competent. Has the judgment and experience required to know what it takes to get the job done while not sacrificing safety or quality.
