Position: Director of Marketing
Reports To: Vice President of Marketing & Operations
Compensation: $80,000 to $100,000 annually
Position Summary:
The Director of Marketing is a professional full-time position with exceptional experience in digital marketing, developing and leading comprehensive marketing strategies and campaigns. A key, influential member of the Aquarium's Leadership Team, this position is responsible for generating growth in attendance, memberships, and revenue through the planning, development, and implementation of all marketing and advertising activities. The candidate must have significant experience in digital marketing, social media management, data-driven strategy, and team leadership. Strong collaboration across departments and exemplary written and verbal communication skills are essential. Experience advising senior leaders and managing digital media, contractors, and external vendors is required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Lead all facets of strategic marketing, with a focus on digital marketing and social media.
• Directly manage digital media buys, including planning, execution, optimization, and reporting across platforms such as Google Ads, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and programmatic ad buying.
• Maintain and enhance the Aquarium's image across all digital platforms and offline channels.
• Drive attendance and sales through data-driven, results-focused digital campaigns that increase visitation, memberships, and overall Aquarium awareness.
• Plan, execute, and measure marketing strategies, digital media buys, and social media campaigns.
• Oversee multimedia content development (e.g., digital ads, video, web, and social content) aligned with the Aquarium's mission, values, and revenue objectives.
• Measure and track KPIs, optimize campaigns in real-time, and report ROI regularly.
• Identify key business challenges and opportunities in the digital marketing landscape, propose innovative solutions, and ensure seamless implementation.
• Manage the department's budget, including media buying allocations, ensuring effective use of resources to accomplish organizational goals while demonstrating fiscal responsibility.
• Conduct market research and analyze visitor and local market data, focusing on digital trends, audience segmentation, and competitive analysis. Use findings to improve marketing strategies.
• Develop customer engagement strategies, integrating digital channels to enhance guest experiences.
• Manage and mentor the marketing team, providing leadership and fostering professional development with a focus on digital expertise.
• Oversee the functionality of the Aquarium's website (livingplanetaquarium.org), ensuring that content is engaging, relevant, and optimized for SEO.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of leadership experience in a supervisory or team lead role.
• 3-5 years of hands-on digital marketing experience, including digital media buying, PPC, SEO/SEM, and social media management.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and execute data-driven marketing strategies.
• Experience supporting revenue objectives and meeting sales goals through digital and traditional marketing channels.
• Proficiency in analyzing data and digital trends to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
• Experience with marketing automation tools, CRM systems, and reporting tools.
• Creative, energetic, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment with high ethical standards and a professional image.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
• Experience in the hospitality or attractions industry.
• Familiarity with non-profit organizations and fulfilling nonrevenue-related mission objectives.
Special Working Conditions: The position will primarily be in an office environment. Periodic weekend, evening, and holiday work is expected.
