Reporting directly to the division's Sr/Buyer and working alongside other Associate/Sr. Assistant Buyers. Support driving assortment architecture, bringing an assortment to life instore, online and in marketing and ensuring accuracy in the ordering process.Primary Responsibilities:Partners with Sr/Buyer on developing assortment vision for their categories/departmentsDrives instore presentation through set sell managementAssists Sr/Buyer with building assortment plan, selecting productPartners with Private Brand design/sourcing teams as well as National Brand suppliersAssists Sr/Buyer with hindsighting, category history and market share analysisAudits item set-up, approves contentCreates and maintains purchase orders/work orders for flagship and storesValidates set and ship dates, and vendor informationProvides input on promotional pricing determinations and keys pricing and signing for flagship and storesEnters marketed item in ad tracker, updates store countsPartners with marketing on advertised item style-outs, provides input on event participationSupports digital enhancement through content management and digital inventory auditCore Competencies & Accomplishments:3+ years retail buying experience; preferably with a large organization in a similar roleRetail planning experience preferredUnderstanding of product merchandisingAbility to collaborate cross-functionallyAbility to recognize, analyze and quantify market trendsResults oriented and self-motivated with a strong sense of urgencyAble to independently organize and prioritize broad workload to meet deadlinesAgile, ability to adapt and shift strategy based on the circumstances of the changing business needsProficient in MS word and ExcelWhat you get:Our corporate office, located within the exciting new development of Legacy West in Plano, Texas, supports JCPenney stores and supply chain facilities nationwide.
