Job Description: IT Director
Position Overview: As an IT Director for the Professional Football League, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of information technology and computer systems. You will lead a team of IT professionals and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the effective management and utilization of technology infrastructure and systems. Your role will play a crucial part in supporting the League's operations, enhancing cybersecurity measures, and driving technological innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
- IT Strategy and Planning:
- Develop and execute the League's IT strategy, aligning it with the organization's goals and objectives.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to identify technology needs, prioritize initiatives, and define long-term IT roadmaps.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices to drive innovation and operational efficiency.
- Team Leadership and Management:
- Lead and manage a team of IT professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and support.
- Delegate tasks, manage workloads, and ensure timely and high-quality delivery of IT projects.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment, promoting professional growth and development.
- Technology Infrastructure Management:
- Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the League's technology infrastructure, including networks, servers, databases, and hardware/software systems.
- Ensure the reliability, availability, and security of IT infrastructure, optimizing performance and addressing scalability requirements.
- Collaborate with external vendors and service providers to manage IT contracts, service-level agreements (SLAs), and support agreements.
- IT Operations and Support:
- Establish and enforce IT policies, procedures, and standards to ensure the secure and efficient operation of IT systems and services.
- Manage help desk operations, providing timely and effective support to end-users and resolving technical issues.
- Implement IT service management processes, including incident management, change management, and problem management.
- Cybersecurity and Data Privacy:
- Develop and implement cybersecurity strategies and measures to protect the League's IT systems, networks, and data from unauthorized access and potential threats.
- Conduct regular security assessments, vulnerability scanning, and penetration testing to identify and address potential risks.
- Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and implement necessary safeguards for data protection.
- Technology Project Management:
- Lead and oversee IT projects, including system implementations, upgrades, and enhancements.
- Define project scopes, objectives, timelines, and deliverables, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Coordinate project resources, manage project risks, and communicate project updates to stakeholders.
- Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery:
- Develop and maintain business continuity and disaster recovery plans to ensure the continuity of IT operations in the event of disruptions or emergencies.
- Conduct regular backups, test disaster recovery procedures, and implement measures to minimize downtime and data loss.
- Vendor Management:
- Manage relationships with technology vendors, negotiate contracts, and ensure vendor compliance with SLAs and contractual obligations.
- Evaluate vendor proposals and solutions, making recommendations based on the League's technology needs and budget constraints.
- Stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies, leveraging vendor partnerships to drive technological advancements.
- IT Budgeting and Financial Management:
- Develop and manage the IT department's budget, ensuring cost-effective utilization of resources and adherence to financial guidelines.
- Monitor IT expenditures, track expenses, and provide regular reports on budget performance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
- Proven experience in IT management or related roles, preferably in the sports or entertainment industry.
- Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, systems, and cybersecurity best practices.
- Experience with IT project management methodologies and tools.
- Familiarity with data privacy regulations and compliance frameworks.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
