Job Description: IT Director

Position Overview: As an IT Director for the Professional Football League, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of information technology and computer systems. You will lead a team of IT professionals and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the effective management and utilization of technology infrastructure and systems. Your role will play a crucial part in supporting the League's operations, enhancing cybersecurity measures, and driving technological innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. IT Strategy and Planning:
    • Develop and execute the League's IT strategy, aligning it with the organization's goals and objectives.
    • Collaborate with key stakeholders to identify technology needs, prioritize initiatives, and define long-term IT roadmaps.
    • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices to drive innovation and operational efficiency.
  2. Team Leadership and Management:
    • Lead and manage a team of IT professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and support.
    • Delegate tasks, manage workloads, and ensure timely and high-quality delivery of IT projects.
    • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment, promoting professional growth and development.
  3. Technology Infrastructure Management:
    • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the League's technology infrastructure, including networks, servers, databases, and hardware/software systems.
    • Ensure the reliability, availability, and security of IT infrastructure, optimizing performance and addressing scalability requirements.
    • Collaborate with external vendors and service providers to manage IT contracts, service-level agreements (SLAs), and support agreements.
  4. IT Operations and Support:
    • Establish and enforce IT policies, procedures, and standards to ensure the secure and efficient operation of IT systems and services.
    • Manage help desk operations, providing timely and effective support to end-users and resolving technical issues.
    • Implement IT service management processes, including incident management, change management, and problem management.
  5. Cybersecurity and Data Privacy:
    • Develop and implement cybersecurity strategies and measures to protect the League's IT systems, networks, and data from unauthorized access and potential threats.
    • Conduct regular security assessments, vulnerability scanning, and penetration testing to identify and address potential risks.
    • Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and implement necessary safeguards for data protection.
  6. Technology Project Management:
    • Lead and oversee IT projects, including system implementations, upgrades, and enhancements.
    • Define project scopes, objectives, timelines, and deliverables, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
    • Coordinate project resources, manage project risks, and communicate project updates to stakeholders.
  7. Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery:
    • Develop and maintain business continuity and disaster recovery plans to ensure the continuity of IT operations in the event of disruptions or emergencies.
    • Conduct regular backups, test disaster recovery procedures, and implement measures to minimize downtime and data loss.
  8. Vendor Management:
    • Manage relationships with technology vendors, negotiate contracts, and ensure vendor compliance with SLAs and contractual obligations.
    • Evaluate vendor proposals and solutions, making recommendations based on the League's technology needs and budget constraints.
    • Stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies, leveraging vendor partnerships to drive technological advancements.
  9. IT Budgeting and Financial Management:
    • Develop and manage the IT department's budget, ensuring cost-effective utilization of resources and adherence to financial guidelines.
    • Monitor IT expenditures, track expenses, and provide regular reports on budget performance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
  • Proven experience in IT management or related roles, preferably in the sports or entertainment industry.
  • Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, systems, and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Experience with IT project management methodologies and tools.
  • Familiarity with data privacy regulations and compliance frameworks.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
