GALLERIES:
The Galleries Visitor Assistant is responsible for providing excellent customer service to all museum visitors and monitoring and maintaining museum exhibits and props.
BOX OFFICE (this has been filled)
This Box Office Visitor Assistant is responsible for providing excellent customer service to visitors at the box office, lobby, as well as in galleries and public spaces. This role also supports sales initiatives and achieves designated sales goals.
PAY: $16.25/hour
SCHEDULE: Our Visitor Assistants can take control of their schedules provided they meet a few requirements:

  • Available to work at least every other Friday evening and Saturday & Sunday (shifts scheduled between 8:30AM-8:30PM). In addition to Friday, some evening shifts throughout the month will be required.
  • Available to work on federal holidays when the museum is open to the public.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION
  • Provide excellent customer service to all visitors while maintaining a safe environment.
  • Ensure exhibits are ready for visitor use.
  • Support visitor operations and needs outside of the galleries.
  • Support division initiatives including service, education, and sales programs.
  • Attend and participate in daily opening meetings, department meetings, trainings, and other meetings as scheduled.
  • Box Office: Accurately process all types of sales using computerized ticketing system.
  • Box Office: Achieve designated sales goals
IDEAL CANDIDATE
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with adults and children.
  • Ability to express ideas clearly and present information effectively to visitors in a crowded setting.
  • Ability to communicate with front of house staff effectively using radio.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team to make sound customer service decisions in complex situations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • One year of customer service experience.
  • Galleries: Experience working or volunteering with children in an educational or recreational setting.
  • Box Office: Experience using a computerized point of sales (POS) system.
  • Ability to complete basic First Aid training (provided by the Museum).
AVAILABLE BENEFITS
  • COMMUTER BENEFIT : The Visitor Assistant is eligible for a $40 per month stipend to support expenses in commuting to the museum. The benefit is added to the employee's second paycheck of each month.
  • WEEKEND BONUS : After working the first 2 weekend shifts in the 2-week pay period, you will be eligible for a $5 bonus to your hourly rate for your 3rd and 4th weekend shifts. This will be explained further if you are selected for an interview.
  • PAY INCREASES: Employees receive a 0.50 cent pay increase after 6 months of active employment and another 0.50 cent pay increase after 12 months. Additional pay increases will take effect annually following one year of employment and align with the hire date.
  • BONUS: You will be eligible for a Service Award Bonus at your 14-month mark. The bonus is 5% of your gross earnings in the first 14 months of employment.
