Job Description:

The Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Designer will be responsible for creating detailed instrumentation and electrical designs for projects within the oil and gas industry. This role involves collaborating with various engineering disciplines to develop comprehensive drawing packages for construction. The I&E Designer ensures that all designs adhere to good practices, client requirements, and relevant Codes & Standards.


Position Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Prepare process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping & instrument diagrams (P&IDs), general equipment layouts, facility plot plans, and equipment and instrument lists for plant, pipeline, and related facilities construction projects.
  • Communicate with vendors to review equipment availability, costs, and installation requirements.
  • Attend project meetings to fully understand client needs and scope definitions, and provide technical input for efficient and effective designs.
  • Conduct electrical system walk downs and create as-built drawings.
  • Develop electrical construction drawings, including one-line diagrams, motor circuit diagrams, grounding plans, conduit plans, interconnection diagrams, and area classification plans.
  • Create conduit and cable schedules, applying NEC Code knowledge for cable sizing and conduit fill.
  • Design PLC panel layouts, wiring, and bills of materials.
  • Interact with other departments and suppliers to gather pertinent information.
  • Work with designer/drafters to provide training and support, fostering growth within the organization.
  • Enhance the ability of others to obtain required information through departmentally developed tools and methods.
  • Perform other functions as directed by management.


Qualifications:

  • Two (2)+ years of college drafting degree, technical school training, or equivalent experience in CADD drafting software, processes, methods, or systems.
  • Five (5)+ years of design/drafting experience.
  • Proficient in referencing codes, standards, and guides.
  • Valid driver’s license.
