Job Purpose:

The Director of Sales has responsibility to manage the development of the region to ensure divisional annual sales growth initiatives and profit expectations are met. Responsibilities include establishing and developing a distribution network for all market initiatives through the managing and ongoing development of account managers.


Essential Duties:

  • Develop and implement annual regional tactical sales plan to achieve or exceed objectives. Coordinate sales strategy with division management to assure plan provides maximum overall sales growth potential for all products through all channels.
  • Establish and develop sales agent organizations to achieve annual growth initiatives.
  • Develop and train account managers on market potential and expectations as well as product features and benefits, and sales and marketing programs.
  • Support and develop relationships with key national account personnel as directed.
  • Prepare annual expense budgets for the assigned region.
  • Continually monitor and report on competitor activities.
  • Manages regionally tailored field marketing programs including pricing and promotions within predetermined guidelines.
  • Establishes and maintains a strong working relationship with the divisional buying offices and key account management.
  • Calls on Divisional Merchandisers and other key account management with defined frequency, establish marketing and advertising campaigns, coordinate product knowledge (P.K.) seminars and other activities in order to influence and support the sale of equipment.
  • Identifies new opportunities for channel development and implements market penetration sales activities in accordance.
  • Provide on-going mentoring to less experienced Sales employees.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related experience.
  • 6 - 8 years of successful field sales experience in related markets.
  • Effective leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of business operations, marketing principles and management skills and techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with individuals at all organizational levels, both internal and external.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and presentation).
  • Effective training and coaching skills.
  • Demonstrated skills in planning, prioritizing, and problem solving and decision making.
  • Basic computer competency. Familiar with Microsoft Office, PowerPoint or equivalent.
  • Willingness to travel.
