The SOC Governance team within Global Financial Control (Controllers) provides governance over the suite of SOC reports that cover internal control over financial reporting relevant to the clients of Northern Trust.

Primary stakeholders of the team are global and include Northern Trust clients, who receive the reports, and on a day-to-day basis include Control Owners, business and technology stakeholders, application owners, business and technology control teams, external auditors, and internal control testing teams.

The team is responsible for liaising with Control Owners across the organization to keep documentation up to date and ensuring it is fit for purpose, and coordinating with stakeholders to facilitate testing of controls, investigate potential exceptions, obtain control assertions, and facilitate answers to client or Relationship Manager questions on SOC controls. Each Senior Analyst on the team is assigned specific reports, and is responsible for the end-to-end project management and related governance responsibilities through issuance of their reports.

The team is committed to ensuring productivity/efficiency initiatives and industry/accounting guidance best practices are embedded in the program and processes.

We are looking to add a team member who is enthusiastic about implementing proactive change and applying expertise with critical thought and accountability to the program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Governance responsibility for Technology related SOC 1 and SOC 2 reports, and certain SOC 1 business reports.
  • Proactive and accountable end-to-end project management from planning through post-report issuance activities for each report under your responsibility.
  • Ensure SOC report content is fit for purpose, complete, accurate, consistent, and properly updated.
  • Perform deficiency analysis with sense of urgency, risk-mindset; evaluate client impact if relevant.
  • Manage and develop effective partnerships with stakeholder base; communicate proactively and appropriately.
  • Contribute to strategic team priorities and initiatives, including optimizing program processes and ensuring alignment with industry best practices.
  • Manage or escalate competing priorities to ensure critical deadlines and initiatives are met.
  • Ability to work both independently on own assignments and also collaboratively within the team on collective initiatives.
  • Comfortable being flexible and adaptable to change.

Required Skills / Experience

  • Must have 5+ years ITGC, ITAC, and business control experience.
  • Must have public accounting experience.
  • Must have financial services experience.
