We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Workplace Data Scientist to join our dynamic Workplace Experience team. Here, you will have the chance to make a significant impact on the firm through data-driven insights. This role is in one of the following locations: NYC, NY, Boston, MA, Houston, TX, Pittsburgh, PA or Lake Mary, FL - HYBRID.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for the following:

  • Founding data science role responsible for the strategy and execution of BNY’s Workplace Data program and governance in alignment with the firm’s objectives.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, real estate, workplace design, workplace experience technology, finance, and corporate services, to understand their data needs and provide relevant insights.
  • Generate actionable insights by identifying trends and patterns to provide data-driven recommendations to improve colleague experience, maximize value for the firm, and create operational efficiencies.
  • Work with our data engineering team to develop and maintain data pipelines, ETL processes, databases and data warehouses for the firm’s workplace data.
  • Design and implement dashboards and interactive tools for data exploration and visualization.
  • Stay updated on the latest developments in data science, machine learning, and real estate technology.
  • Collect, clean, and preprocess large datasets from various internal and external sources to create useful machine learning models and algorithms.
  • Oversee data governance practices to ensure data integrity, security, and accessibility.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with GIS and spatial data analysis.
  • Knowledge of real estate market dynamics and property valuation techniques.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud) and big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).

To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:

  • Advanced degree in STEM engineering degrees, or equivalent work experience with experience preferred in related fields.
  • 8+ years of related experience required; experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.
  • Proven experience as a Data Scientist, preferably in the real estate industry.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, and SQL.
  • Experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, scikit-learn) and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Strong understanding of real estate markets, financial analysis, and investment principles.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

BNY assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $162,000 and $220,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNY total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.
