Abiomed, part of Johnson & Johnson MedTech, is recruiting for an Engineering Manager located in Danvers, MA. The preCARDIA engineering team is working to develop technologies for early feasibility studies for a novel treatment for heart failure patients.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities may include:


  1. Lead product development programs from inception to implementation.
  2. Direct supervisor of technical staff including engineers and technicians from multiple disciplines.
  3. Hire and retain top talent to keep pace with platform growth. Sets business metrics for the team and provides performance feedback to employees.
  4. Represent the platform as a technical spokesperson to management and the cross functional team.
  5. Engage with external and internal manufacturing partners to develop manufacturable designs.
  6. Partner and collaborate cross-functionally (product management, research, engineering, clinical, and manufacturing and regulatory) to move new features, technology and products through product development and into the market.
  7. Identify requirements through physician interactions.
  8. Plans, schedules, conducts, and manages various engineering projects, ensuring all projects adhere to acceptable engineering practices and compliance regulations, are appropriately staffed, and are run within budget.
  9. Develops standard operating procedures.
  10. Provide engineering expertise and maintains a high level of competency and business development acumen.

Qualifications:


Job Qualifications:


  1. BS in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering.
  2. 8+ years experience in production development with previous management experience. 3+ years management experience preferred.
  3. Personnel focused leader with passion for developing junior staff.
  4. Strong meeting facilitator and effective presenter to all audiences.
  5. Expert in medical device design controls.
  6. Expert project manager (planning, scheduling, coordinating, budgeting).
  7. Knowledge of Solidworks, ANSYS Mechanical, MathCad, MiniTab & Matlab Engineering CAD preferred.
  8. Possesses excellent communication, motivation, team building, employee involvement, diplomacy, delegating skills as well as confidence and enthusiasm.
  9. May require up to 10% travel – US & EU.
