Role Overview:
The Annual Giving Digital Marketing Specialist will collaborate closely with partners within the University Advancement department to strategize web and digital content, target audiences, and coordinate multiple digital fundraising projects. Acting as a web designer, videographer, curator, and editor, the Specialist will manage the creation and execution of digital fundraising campaigns for USC schools and programs. This position also involves elevating the digital marketing expertise across the university through training and knowledge-sharing sessions.
The Annual Giving team aims to increase alumni engagement, philanthropy, and donor retention. The team oversees broad-based communications and digital solicitations across multiple channels, focusing on online giving and digital engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Director of Digital Annual Giving Programs and the Assistant Director of the Advancement Call Center with strategy, project management, and platform support to increase engagement and conversion rates.
  • Manage video filming projects, including scheduling film sessions, selecting student ambassadors, and editing high-quality videos for campaigns and fundraising priorities.
  • Write and edit compelling copy tailored to university fundraising initiatives, alumni, and donor solicitations.
  • Collaborate with interdepartmental teams to execute digital marketing plans, particularly for university giving days and cause-related initiatives.
  • Develop and implement a "test & learn" strategy to optimize clicks, opens, and conversions using analytics and industry best practices.
  • Lead marketing training sessions and develop support materials for partner onboarding.
  • Provide proactive, data-driven recommendations to school units for various business cases.
  • Prepare reports and debriefs for marketing campaigns.
  • Ensure content adheres to internal style guides and is comprehensible.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining visually appealing, responsive websites using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Conduct website testing and debugging for cross-browser compatibility.
  • Implement on-page SEO practices to improve search engine rankings.
  • Perform additional digital duties and special projects as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience in digital marketing or videography.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google G Suite, HTML, and CSS.
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop/Creative Suite for image manipulation and graphic design.
  • Familiarity with major email platforms and enterprise-level solutions, especially Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
  • Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Commitment to exceptional customer service and quality.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in higher education or complex organizations.
  • Familiarity with online tools, resources, and a willingness to explore new platforms.
  • Ability to learn quickly, juggle multiple projects, and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with audience segmentation and consumer lifecycle communication funnels.
  • A collaborative personality and the ability to work well with colleagues and volunteers.
