ALL ABOUT GENERAL MERCHANDISE
Experts of operations, process and efficiency who enable a consistent experience for our guests by ensuring product is set, in-stock, accurately priced and signed on the sales floor. The General Merchandise and Food Sales team leads inbound, outbound, replenishment, inventory accuracy, presentation, pricing and promotional signing processes for all General Merchandise (GM) areas of the store.
As a General Merchandise Expert, no two days are ever the same, but a typical day will most likely include the following responsibilities:
- Create a welcoming experience by authentically greeting all guests
- Observe to understand whether a guest needs assistance or wants to interact
- Engage with guests in a genuine way, asking questions to better understand their needs
- Be knowledgeable about the tools, products, and services available in the store to improve guest experience
- Thank guests genuinely and let them know we’re happy they chose to shop at Target
- Ensure sales floor is zoned, in stock and accurately signed and priced for guests
- Acknowledge guests as you complete workload with minimal disruption
- Ensure regular and promotional signing is set accurately for GM categories
- Execute inbound, replenishment, backroom and signing processes for GM areas
- Follow processes accurately with attention to detail
- Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance
- Work in a safe manner at all times; identify and correct hazards
- Support guest services such as back-up cashier and digital fulfillment processes
- All other duties based on business needs

- Resolve guest questions quickly on the spot
- Attention to detail and ability to follow multi-step processes
- Capability to remain focused in a fast-paced environment
