Fetch - Clearwater is seeking a detail-oriented compassionate assistant for our newest location. This is your opportunity to grow our new practice with an amazing team!

The veterinary nurse assistant coordinates with the rest of the Fetch emergency and specialty teams to ensure proper care of our hospital, patient and guests.

Essential Functions

  • Work closely with experienced technicians, assistants, doctors, and management to provide excellent care of the patients and our guests
  • Clean cages, runs, wet tables, counters, and exam rooms daily
  • Keep examination and treatment areas clean and stocked
  • Help provide care for our hospitalized patients

Technical Skills:

  • Be knowledgeable about safety standards in all areas of the veterinary hospital
  • Proper and safe animal restraint
  • Perform TPR
  • Input data into electronic medical record system
  • Remove sutures/staples/drains with assistance
  • Remove bandages
  • Clean surgical instruments and wrap for sterilization
  • Sterilize wrapped packs and pouches
  • Properly set up fluid bag for IV or SQ administration
  • Administer oral medications, SQ fluids, and SQ injections as directed by technicians or doctor
  • Assist with surgical preparation (surgery room and patient) and maintaining a timely start to surgical procedures
  • Setting up for and cleaning up after surgical procedures and maintaining equipment
  • Be able to work with heating pads/blankets, scales, thermometers, otoscopes,clipper/blades, incubators, and perform
  • Daily maintenance on these items
  • Perform emergency procedures including: control bleeding, administer oxygen therapy and CPR
  • Properly use laboratory equipment including CBC machine, chemistry analyzer, coagulation analyzer, microscope, assays, etc.
  • Properly handle all types of laboratory specimens and submit to appropriate laboratories.
  • Assist with radiographic positioning and processing including set up of equipment and input of patient information.
  • Submit radiographs/CT images for review or storage.
  • Assisting with restraint for ultrasound, input patient info, and transfer images to medical record system.
  • Accurately filling and dispensing medications and refills
  • Prepare animals for discharge from the hospital
  • Cleaning, stocking and helping to maintain proper care of the hospital equipment
