Working closely with Senior Practice Directors, Practice Group Leaders and business services professionals, this position plays an important role in executing and delivering against practice and Firm strategies while driving revenue and profitability. This is a fast-paced, hands-on role with diverse responsibilities that include strategy and planning, business operations, budgeting and analysis, and talent management. The Practice Analyst will serve as an integral part of the practice management team and will report to a Senior Practice Director.ResponsibilitiesStrategy and PlanningSupport Practice Group Leaders and Senior Practice Director in the development and implementation of the practices' strategic plans.Collaborate with Practice Group Leaders and Senior Practice Director on Firm-wide and cross-practice initiatives.Undertake special projects in support of the Firm's strategic initiatives.Regularly communicate with lawyers and business services staff across the practices and offices. Through regular communication, proactively identify issues and facilitate resolution.Business OperationsMonitor timekeeper utilization across practices and help Senior Practice Director address issues.Work with Senior Practice Director to identify available resources for staffing matters.Monitor weekly reports and ensure compliance with Firm policies.Identify operational efficiencies through process improvement and utilization of technology.Attend practice meetings, preparing summaries of action items and tracking follow-up at the direction of Senior Practice Director.Provide support as needed on business development initiatives, pitches, RFPs and pricing proposals.Budgeting and AnalysisSupport ongoing reporting and monitoring of practice and Firm data and metrics related to production, utilization, aging receivables, client/practice revenue and profitability.Extract, synthesize and provide analysis on financials from various systems.Regularly meet with Senior Practice Director, finance team and others to review and discuss performance to budget. Identify trends in financial performance and provide recommendations for improvement.Assist in reviewing best practice models to provide financial and strategic analysis for various initiatives including fixed fee proposals and alternative pricing arrangements.Develop new reports to meet evolving strategic initiatives.Research, analyze and document special projects as assigned. Communicate findings with Senior Practice Director, partners and leadership.Talent ManagementWork with Senior Practice Director, Practice Group Leaders and recruiting and professional development teams to recruit, retain and develop legal talent.Provide analysis and support on the attorney evaluation and promotion process.Provide support to Senior Practice Director in the review of annual compensation of attorneys and other timekeepers.Other duties as assigned to fully meet the requirements if the position.Experience & QualificationsBachelor’s degree with strong academic credentials.3-5 years’ experience, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment.Ability to work in a professional team environment and interact at all levels in a fast-paced legal environment.Proactive work ethic with the ability to manage multiple requests, assess priorities and achieve solutions under tight deadlines.Professional self-starter who shows ownership and strong attention to detail.Excellent critical thinking, organizational, decision-making, writing and research skills are essential.Demonstrated aptitude for analytics and ability to apply innovation in identifying problems and in proposing and implementing solutions.SalaryNew York City Only DOE: $95,000 - $108,000Dentons US LLP offers a competitive salary and benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401k, profit sharing, short-term/long-term disability, life insurance, tuition reimbursement, paid time off, paid holidays and discretionary bonuses.Dentons US LLP is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
