Position Summary

Responsible for directing staff in the completion of projects for the firm. Has direct oversight of Atlanta office. Establishes and implements goals and objectives, develops and promotes the firm’s values and long-range plans, positions the firm for growth and ensures profitability.


Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for coordinating office objectives and implementation plans.
  • Develop and maintain production staff schedules and assign projects in conjunction with senior staff and Director of Operations.
  • Support and assist the Director of Operations in overseeing the efficient and quality‐based operations of the office.
  • In conjunction with other senior leaders, is responsible for the realization of profits compatible with the interests of clients and the firm.
  • Monitor Atlanta office’s project and client reports and take appropriate action to ensure that projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
  • Promotes the firm's vision, mission, core values and long-range plans.
  • Leads and participates in activities including industry events and trade conferences to promote achievement of the firm's objectives.
  • Implements policies established by the firm’s stakeholders.
  • Participate in business development meetings and activities.
  • Develop proposals in conjunction with President/Senior Staff.
  • Review contracts.
  • Assist with quality assurance: quality control, codes, risk management, technical issues.
  • Provide support when requested to expedite building permits/city approvals.
  • Provide support to staff in community entitlement process, including attending city meetings, assisting with negotiation with design review and planning communities and assisting with presentations.
  • Responsible for completion of the billing process and collection of project fees for Atlanta projects.
  • Perform other duties that may be assigned by Principal / Director of Operations.
  • Attends annual planning retreat to assist in the development of the firm’s strategic plans.
  • Perform Client Manager responsibilities when requested by stakeholders for certain regional clients, current and new, including expansion of services to existing clients.
  • Plan, organize and control the architectural activities for certain complex projects in order to maintain minimum billable utilization rate.
  • Maintain a billable utilization rate of 60%.
  • Responsible for coordinating and making recommendations in the interviewing and hiring process for new candidates in Atlanta office.
  • Mentoring of staff including oversight/guidance, coordination of office continuing education and oversee staff’s ongoing professional development.
  • Provide annual performance reviews for employees within Atlanta office.
  • Make recommendations for employee job titles, promotions, compensation, hiring and termination decisions.


Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills, Certifications):

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture or engineering.
  • Ten or more years’ experience, at least five in a management role.
  • Possess extensive project management skills.
  • Must be thoroughly familiar with the entire architectural or engineering process.
  • Advanced knowledge of business sector and quality performance.
  • Ability to work on and manage a variety of technical tasks.
  • Maintain professional license in at least one state.
