Job Requirements / Description
Purpose :
The Job Coach will provide individualized support to students from SEEM Collaborative high school programs, with different learning styles and needs to assist them in achieving their vocational goals. This role will involve working closely with students, school personnel, employers, and community partners to implement IEP and personalized career exploration and job training plans.
Qualifications:
  • A professional certificate or degree in human services, special education, rehabilitation counseling, or a related field, preferred.
  • Experience working with individuals with a variety of learning differences, preferably in an educational and/or community settings.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to build rapport with students, employers, and community partners.
  • Knowledge of job placement strategies, labor market trends, and ADA regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license with a safe driving record.
Scope of duties
  • Student Assessment: Identify individual student needs, strengths, and challenges related to employment.
  • Job Development: Develop and maintain relationships with employers to identify suitable job opportunities that match student skills and interests.
  • Job Training: Provide on-the-job training and support to students, including job skill development, task analysis, and problem-solving techniques.
  • Job Placement: Assist students in securing and maintaining employment through effective job placement strategies and follow-up support.
  • Advocacy: Advocate for students' rights and needs in the workplace, ensuring equal access and opportunity.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of student progress, including assessment results, training plans, and job placement outcomes.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with other professionals, including case managers, therapists, and school principals, to provide comprehensive support to students.
  • Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development activities to stay updated on best practices in special education and disability services.
