The Marketing Specialist plays a crucial role in implementing and influencing the marketing strategy and branded content creation for three locations and the dozen programs of Avenidas, enabling programs, services, events, and/or products to meet organizational objectives. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Marketing and Communications, this individual will oversee content strategy that delivers compelling branding and storytelling across all channels (website, social media, print, outdoor, swag, etc.). This person will work collaboratively on a small Marketing & Communications team; oversee contractors and vendors; facilitate products with Avenidas Development and Program staff; and be expected to exercise considerable oversight and reasonable discretion with only occasional manager direction concerning all duties, including those involving monitoring budget as assigned. This individual thrives in a collaborative environment with other departments, as well as outward-facing audiences such as participants, donors, Board members, and other stakeholders. Essential Job Functions

Content Development (50%)

Creates new, revised, and repurposed marketing collateral in collaboration with the Marketing & Communications team, staff, and vendors.

  • Creates content about the impact of Avenidas by interviewing, photographing, and videoing participants, events, staff, and volunteers to develop and create stories to share.
  • Designs, manages, and executes signature products like: Annual Report, program brochures, and quarterly print newsletter.
  • Builds upon existing style guide and brand identity guidelines for all platforms, including website, social media, print, outdoor, swag, etc.
  • Owns, maintains, and promotes a highly organized archive of marketing assets (transcripts, photos, videos, collateral, etc.), for use by Marketing and Communications team and staff.
  • Maintains official brand identity guidelines, including training staff to use them and provides content creation assistance to staff as needed.
  • Manages contractor and vendor relationships and project budgets.
  • Briefs staff and leadership on all marketing efforts.
  • Contributes to the marketing strategy and to the yearly marketing calendar.

Advertising & Promotion (15%)

  • Art directs advertising collateral, in concert with external designers from news and media organizations.
  • Creates messaging, graphics, signage, and branded collateral to promote Avenidas programs and events.
  • Monitors, analyzes, promotes, and archives media coverage, including social media.
  • Determines advertising objectives, target audience, and communication vehicles.

Digital Management (35%)

  • Implements organizational digital strategy across all platforms; collects, reviews, and circulates data from channels in order to continually refine marketing strategy and support data-driven decision making.
  • Conducts and leads evaluation to recommend and create changes to all digital engagement across all platforms and initiatives for the organization.
  • Develops, tracks, and evaluates digital marketing efforts and provides consumer insights to support client growth.
  • Evaluates website strategy and content to ensure alignment with goals and priorities; implements best practices like SEO techniques and accessibility recommendations such.
  • Designs and executes social media content strategy, campaign, and ads.
  • Maintains active presence on social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and X.
  • Ensures website is current and updated; collaborate with staff to produce new content.

Secondary Job Functions

  • Assists with special events (conferences, open houses) and fundraising events.
  • Assists with the development and promotion of internal and external surveys.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • B.A. in marketing or related field preferred
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of successful marketing experience with increasing responsibility
  • Nonprofit experience preferred.
  • Video production and editing skills preferred.
  • Spanish and/or Mandarin speaking skills preferred.
  • Driver’s License: CA driver’s license with auto insurance and clean driving record.

Required Abilities and Skills

  • Alignment with mission, vision, and values of Avenidas; knowledgeable and/or a desire to learn about aging issues.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Team.
  • Demonstrated skill in web content management and monitoring tools like WordPress and Google Analytics; creative and graphic design tools like Canva and Adobe Creative Cloud; project management tools like Monday; digital and email marketing tools like Constant Contact; and other customer relationship management tools like Salesforce.

Physical Demands

Frequent stand/walk, sit, use a computer; use a telephone, grasp lightly/fine manipulation.

Occasionally reach/work above shoulders, twist/bend/stoop/squat, grasp forcefully, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds, write by hand, sort/file paperwork.

Hours and Compensation

This is a full-time, on-site exempt (M-F) 40 hour per week position. Pay range is $86,400 to $91,240 annualized and benefits are generous. We offer medical, dental, vision, 403B grant (3% at six months), paid vacation, sick leave, holidays, Bronze Avenidas membership, and more.
