Summary:

Manages people, equipment, work processes, and resources to meet production requirements and improve productivity and capacity through effective leadership of the family. Serves as the point person for their shift for coordination and communication of activities with Process Managers on any shift in any job family as needed. Needs a high degree of technical knowledge of offset heatset printing and Printers - Goss Sunday 4000 and/or Harris M110.

Essential Functions:

  1. Participates, collaborates, and coaches Process Leads in the interview and selection process for their respective job family to build and maintain a qualified talent pool to meet Lean (process, quality, and safety) operational and strategic objectives.
  2. Develops, coaches, and manages performance of Process Leads monitoring, documenting, and periodically reviewing direct reports utilizing a participative review process consistent with guidelines. Collaborates with other Process Managers to develop and track Process Leads in teaming efforts required to support operational goals. Utilizes and educates his/her team in mediation process for conflict resolution and consensus building as appropriate.
  3. Assists with the administration of Progression certifications for subordinates by serving as the management representative on the certification team.
  4. Develops and maintains appropriate reporting mechanisms to track productivity, turnover costs, and employee readiness to meet operational requirements. Educates Process Leads and communicates progress to create and maintain awareness between daily performance and operational goals. Reports operational metrics and other departmental trends and activities to the Production Director.
  5. Manages problem-solving related to complex equipment or process issues for his/her respective area, involves other Process Managers related to issues that affect other shifts or other process areas. Holds meetings with direct reports to share knowledge and support continuous learning for Continuous Process Improvement (CPI), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) changes resulting from these activities.
  6. Participates in the annual budgeting process and manages their budget throughout the year.
  7. Works with other family managers to provide adequate leadership coverage for the VMC during operational hours.
  8. Accomplish duties using safe work practices and equipment while being responsible for reporting all injuries and observed unsafe practices. Coaches fellow employees on safe work practices as appropriate and contributes to the overall success of the company’s safety program.
  9. Performs related work and additional duties as needed or required.

Education/Experience:

Five to seven years’ experience in a leadership role in manufacturing/plant management.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong technical knowledge of printing equipment (Heatset)
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with SAP
  • Work in a team environment and effectively lead and train others
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions
  • Valid driver’s license required or eligible to get a valid Florida state driver’s license
  • Work in a noisy area using hearing protection
  • Ability to lift/move up to 40#
  • Strong organizational and team leading skills are desired
