Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 70k/ year

What you’ll do as Program Director:

As Program Director, you will effectively provide administration, oversight, monitoring, and management for our Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) Program in Essex County. SSVF is a program of the Department of Veterans’ Affairs that provides specific services for veterans and their families for homelessness prevention, rapid re-housing, and transitional supportive services. You will supervise all Essex County SSVF staff and guide them in their case management work with veterans, ensuring that clients are reaching their goal for attainment or maintenance of permanent housing. You will set standards and create policies and procedures, working with your team to produce the required outcomes and measured results for the grant. Additionally, you will attend, lead, facilitate, and monitor meetings with community groups that connect our program to advocacy, wrap-around supports, and services in the communities of Essex County.

Program Director Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise, guide, oversee, and complete weekly supervision with a team of Case Managers.
  • Develop program policy and procedure, together with manuals for the training, supervision, and monitoring of case management staff.
  • Promote and teach the homelessness prevention and rapid re-housing model of service delivery for veterans to program staff.
  • Complete day-to-day operations and ensure open communication is available to program staff as needed.
  • Ensure that grant program operates in compliance with the rules and regulations of licensing and funding agencies and meets contract expectations.
  • Communicate with the funder and collaterals at all levels including but not limited to the SSVF program office, technical support, and local health centers. Provide input into funder strategy/planning and respond to funder issues and concerns.
  • Attend relevant community meetings to ensure opportunities for collaborations with community partners and collateral agencies, and partner to rapidly address and correct issues with housing services or supports—especially employment, education, wellness, family, and socialization.
  • Set up and manage systems to measure and assess the impact of the program's prevention and rapid re-housing services for veterans during service delivery and afterwards.
  • Provide reports, records, and documentation as required.
  • Review and approve all temporary financial assistance to ensure compliance with SSVF guidelines.
  • Determine eligibility for veterans presenting for SSVF services in accordance with SSVF guidelines.
  • Other duties as needed and requested.

The Program Director role is about making a difference in the lives of the people we serve. As Program Director, you’ll bring the following qualifications:

  • A master’s degree in education, counseling psychology, rehabilitative counseling, or related human service field, or equivalent preferred.
  • Significant case management experience with homeless veterans and their families.
  • Five years management experience in homeless services, ideally with veterans, including staff supervision and training, budget/fiscal management, contract monitoring/audits, and reporting to funders and regulators.
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills (written and verbal) and a history of community leadership.
