Strategic Planning and Modeling Team (SPaM)

Job Summary: Manage a team of Data Scientists and Strategic Development Managers to develop and deploy strategic supply chain solutions by harnessing Operations Research, Inventory Optimization, Machine Learning, and Generative AI advanced analytics. Partner with businesses across all supply chain domains (Plan, Source, Make, Deliver, Return, and within Enable) to deliver financial benefits to the organization by providing technical capabilities and MOC to drive new, quality-focused solutions to adoption. Lead the development of quality-focused, world-class supply chain advanced analytics and AI solutions, leading multiple projects to value capture based on value proposition and feasibility as well as develop business cases and financial models for investments.

Responsibilities:

  • Combines supply chain domain expertise, business acumen, and advanced analytics to lead organization-wide teams of supply chain data science, analyst & engineer professionals.
  • Partners closely with business users, other HP Data Scientists, Data Architects, and experts to envision, drive, and deliver innovative, compelling, and quality AI solutions at speed and scale.
  • Works across the SCOR model, focusing on end-to-end Planning improvements including inventory optimization.
  • Develops and diffuses innovations in inventory management, working capital optimization, network design, forecasting, complexity reduction, product planning, manufacturing, distribution, and related areas.
  • Leads deploying inventory optimization solutions in an operational environment.
  • Deploys and provides training of inventory optimization solutions to business customers and users.
  • Leads analysis of the competitive AI and ML environment, leading customer uses, and metrics to determine the right set of features to drive engagement and business goals.
  • Leads development of AI models for use across the supply chain that are scalable in the enterprise, including the maintenance strategy.
  • Leverages recognized domain expertise in cross-organization projects, business acumen, and overall data systems leadership to influence executive business leadership decisions, development partners, and industry standards groups.
  • Drives complex projects to mine data using modern tools and programming languages.
  • Provides clarity of action in critical strategic decisions and develops data-driven decision support processes in supply chain and related areas.
  • Works cross-functionally to develop data pipelines, AI models, and digital tools to drive efficiency and accuracy.
  • Defines and implements data models to uncover patterns and predictions creating business value and innovation.
  • Communicates business value and innovation potential through effective insights and visualizations.
  • Assures insights are communicated regularly and effectively, reviewing designs, models, accuracy, and data compliance.
  • Represents the business at data science events, forums, and steering committees.
  • Prepares and presents literature, presentations, invention disclosures for peer review & publication in industry data science domain initiatives and conferences.
  • Provides guidance, training, and mentoring to less experienced staff members.
  • Leads, coaches, cares for, and grows teams of customer-focused data scientists.
  • Organizes and unblocks collaboration and partnership at multiple levels, across business groups and functions to achieve the organizational mission.
  • Participates in performance management to enhance associate development; sets expectations for high performing work teams; manages pay recommendations and encourages personal and professional career development.

Education & Experience Recommended:

  • Master's or PhD degree in Data Science, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Mathematics, Computer Science, or equivalent.
  • Experience modeling & deploying analytical solutions, including generative AI, in a business setting with proven results.
  • Experience leading & developing data science professionals.
  • Typically 12+ years’ industry experience.

Preferred Languages / Certifications: Python, R, Cloud-Based tools, OpenSource tools/code, and equivalent.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Extensive experience using statistics, mathematics, and programming languages to solve challenges.
  • Demonstrated innovation across the supply chain domains (Plan, Source, Make, Deliver, Return, Enable).
  • Demonstrated practical experience in an operational environment deploying inventory optimization solutions.
  • Experience implementing and handing off inventory optimization solutions to business customers and users.
  • Expertise with inventory optimization math and successful deployment of the mathematical formulas into a business process.
  • Fluent in structured and unstructured data, its management, and modern data transformation methodologies.
  • Ability to define and create complex models to pull valuable insights, predictions, and innovation from data.
  • Experience integrating and deploying computational analysis and Generative AI into business processes.
  • Effectively and creatively tell stories and create visualizations to describe and communicate data insights.
  • Strong leadership skills across people, process, and technology.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language.
  • Ability to effectively communicate data product architectures and/or algorithm design proposals and negotiate options at senior management levels, BU, and executive levels.

Compensation: The base pay range for this role is $146,650 to $234,600 annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to US candidates only). Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
