This job plans, organizes, and directs Internal Construction team members and outside Sub-Contractors for assigned projects at clinics and/or hospitals. Assumes responsibility for the oversight of skilled craft work on a specific project basis; manages the day to day execution of assigned construction projects. Coordinates material deliveries and Sub-Contractor functions for accurate and timely completion of new construction, renovation and repair projects.

Education

Required - High School diploma or equivalent

Work Experience
Required - 5 years Construction experience including two years supervisory experience in building construction, maintenance or repair work and mechanically inclined with knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, heating/ventilation/air conditioning/refrigeration (HVAC-R)

Preferred - Experience in a Hospital setting.

Certifications

Required - State of Louisiana General Contractors License, Valid Louisiana Driver’s License

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information
  • Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.

Job Duties

  • Supervises, plans, organizes and schedules the work for various projects between department staff and outside contractors.
  • Directs capital improvement projects, installations, new construction, remodeling, grounds improvement, and renovation projects
  • Supervises, assigns and reviews the quality of the Internal Construction staff and sub-contractor work and ensures compliance with regulatory bodies
  • Supervises emergency repair jobs and investigates personnel issues
  • Prepares occupational incident reports and addresses safety concerns
  • Acts as a liaison for management staff and maintains leadership knowledge
