The Account Director reports to the Vice President of Client Services and serves as a senior strategist to ensure data-driven, strategy-first management of existing and new client accounts. The right candidate will also drive new business opportunities and build strategic partnerships to further establish Dobies Health Marketing as leader in healthcare marketing and branding.

Primary areas of responsibility:

Account Leadership & Management – 90% of role:

  • As a strategic leader for hospital and healthcare accounts, oversee Marketing & Client Service Managers, who also serve as the primary points of contact for assigned clients.
  • Demonstrate healthcare marketing subject matter expertise and collaborate with the firm’s senior strategists to craft data-driven, effective marketing and positioning strategies (MAPS) and brand building.
  • Assume accountability for the health of client relationships to ensure their goals are met while ensuring firm profitability for existing and new statements of work and projects.
  • Ensure client objectives and goals are effectively translated into the firm’s content and creative development process.
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with senior leaders for each assigned client.
  • Be intimately familiar with clients’ business, competition and marketing objectives in order to clearly define business problems and apply insights.
  • Proactively direct the implementation of client marketing plans, collaborating with internal teams to develop and assess creative concepts, implement campaigns, track campaign ROI, and measure/monitor client budgets, job profitability and defined key performance indicators.
  • Lead the day-to-day account management team to ensure SOWs are executed on time and on budget.
  • Proactively identify resource needs and support recruitment of additional staff as the client service needs and business grow.
  • Deliver work that is strategically rooted and creatively driven to produce business results.
  • Lead and inspire a team of high-performing, cross-functional team members and account staff.

Business Development/New Engagement – 10% of role:

  • Support new business development and RFP/proposal development with Dobies leadership.
  • Further develop and coach existing clients and renew and grow scopes of work annually. Continually advise clients of their strategic marketing opportunities.
  • Contribute regularly to the growth of the agency’s business and long-term strategy.
  • Identify the resource needs and support recruitment of additional account management staff to support growth as we expand.

Professional Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required: related field, Marketing Communications preferred; master’s degree brings candidate to the top of the list
  • 6-8 years of experience in healthcare marketing, communications and strategy required
  • Supervisory/management experience required
  • Work experience in a hospital marketing or planning department. Experience within an advertising agency or leading hospital client is preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of the strategic marketing planning process and integrated marketing campaigns
  • Strong background in marketing KPI setting, meeting and exceeding results
