QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Prior law enforcement background preferred.
  2. Suitable personality for working with young people and the community.
  3. Experience with supervising personnel and providing organizational security.
  4. Can demonstrate leadership for creating innovative programs to provide and monitor school security.
  5. Present pro-active solutions to safety and security.
  6. Sincere interest to encourage, support and guide young people away from trouble.
  7. Interest and willingness to conduct classroom sessions with students.
  • Gang resistance, alcohol, tobacco and drug education programs
  • Other appropriate topics
  • Willingness to attend workshops and training sessions related to security issues and student presentation topics.
  • Public speaking skills to make presentations to parent and community groups.
  • RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Recommend and monitor security procedures at all school corporation facilities.
      • Monitor building security
      • Monitor identification procedures of school visitors
    2. In conjunction with school principals, supervise/evaluate security personnel.
      • Schedule work shifts, overtime schedules (if needed and approved), payroll forms
    3. Develop a schedule for monitoring use of all indoor school building facilities after school hours and on weekends with respect to proper security.
      • Monitor proper use of school facilities by outside groups.
      • Monitor and work with police department to enforce appropriate parking around schools for evening special events.
    4. Attend and oversee security at all home varsity football and basketball games.
    5. Monitor use of all outdoor facilities at schools during warm weather months with respect to safety.
      • Particular attention would be paid to evening use of outdoor facilities (all tennis courts, outdoor basketball areas, softball fields, in-line skaters).
      • Create a schedule for checking on areas around elementary schools after dark e.g. use of playgrounds for unnecessary loitering, possible drinking and graffiti.
    6. Coordinate and oversee residency checks for schools.
    7. Serves as the district representative for in-person delivery of correspondence to employees when they are unable to report to work and to retrieve school-issued property.
    8. Work with all secondary administrators and athletic directors to schedule police supervision at school activities and special events.
    9. Assist with hall supervision at high school when not doing other duties.
    10. Keep weekly log of building and facility visitations.
    11. Collaborate with the Technology Department to analyze and evaluate new technologies for enhancing corporate security.
    12. Offer safety and security training to corporation staff, including instructions on tools such as the Video Management System.
    13. Other assignments deemed appropriate by the Superintendent of Schools.
