- 6+ years of software engineering experience
- 6+ years of JavaScript and CSS experience
- 6+ years of experience integrating with and/or creating REST APIs
- Preferably 3+ years of mobile app development using at least one of the following: Android, Objective-C, and any cutting-edge JavaScript framework
- Comfortable developing and troubleshooting in a multi-OS environment
- Designing and integrating software applications running on multiple platform types into overall architecture
- Outstanding written, verbal communication, interpersonal skills with internal and external team members
- Solid knowledge of design patterns, data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented software design
- Experience in overall architecture of software applications for products and solutions
- Extensive experience with multiple software applications design tools and languages
- Evaluating forms and processes for software applications testing and methodology, including writing and execution of test plans, debugging, and testing scripts and tools
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Fast learner able to pick up new concepts quickly
- Sense of humor, or at least ability to laugh in the face of tough situations (of which there will be many) is a must
- Excellent communication and organization skills to effectively communicate product architectures, design proposals and negotiate options at senior management levels
- Excellent teamwork skills and experience working with a remote team and being able to work closely with others and open to feedback
- Mastery in English and local language
About the Team
The Common Web Platform (CWP) organization is a new group in HP Inc. We create, deploy, and operate a set of shared, but independent, cloud-based services for use by HP Inc. business units and CTO teams building cloud solutions. Within CWP, the Product Discovery Client team is one of the most important teams responsible for delivering overall marketplace front-end and the ultimate user experience. We cover both web and mobile platforms and support some of the most innovative efforts in HP Inc., including the renowned Sprout PC. Description
Analyzes, designs, programs, debugs, and modifies software enhancements and/or new products used in local, networked, or Internet-related computer programs, primarily for end-users. Using current programming languages and technologies, writes code, completes programming, and performs testing and debugging of applications. Completes documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance. May interact with users to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications.
Responsibilities
- Designs enhancements, updates, and programming changes for portions and subsystems of end-user applications software running on local, networked, and Internet-based platforms.
- Analyzes design and determines coding, programming, and integration activities required based on general objectives and knowledge of overall architecture of product or solution.
- Writes and executes complete testing plans, protocols, and documentation for assigned portions of the application; identifies and debugs, and creates solutions for issues with code and integration into application architecture.
- Leads a project team of other software applications engineers and internal and outsourced development partners to develop reliable, cost-effective, and high-quality solutions for assigned applications portion or subsystem.
- Collaborates and communicates with management, internal, and outsourced development partners regarding software applications design status, project progress, and issue resolution.
- Represents the software applications engineering team for all phases of larger and more-complex development projects.
- Provides guidance and mentoring to less-experienced staff members.
- Design, document, and implement cloud-enabled apps on a variety of platforms (HTML5 a MUST, Android, iOS, Windows, etc.).
- Maintain and troubleshoot existing cloud-enabled apps.
- Work as part of a tight-knit team that spans China and US developers.
- Participate in design, code reviews, and technological planning for the larger Cloud Services team.
Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.
