We are embarking on an exciting journey to build a greater presence within North America and increase our market share. We are looking to identify an exceptional technical leader to further augment our growing Tunnels Practice. This is a unique opportunity to leverage our significant heritage of major tunnel projects and further our market position within New York City. This role will be focused on providing technical leadership to the delivery of tunnels projects and pursuits.



Key responsibilities




  • You will represent Mott MacDonald in the New York City market, by contributing to technical papers, project and/or industry events, both internally and externally.

  • Partner with Mott MacDonald's Business Development Managers, other Practices within Mott MacDonald, and Regional and Global Tunnels Practice Leaders to help drive business development by contributing technical input into project pursuits and capture plans. You will interact with clients by providing technical expertise and become a trusted advisor.

  • Act as a Technical Leader in the delivery of major tunnel projects. You will contribute significant technical expertise and project input into projects of different delivery methods. You will undertake a principal / chief engineering role on projects.

  • Manage technical innovation and problem solving in relation to the solution strategy and ensuring the technical quality of the team's output is delivered successfully for the client.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across Mott MacDonald, acting as an exemplary role model, articulating and representing the brand, vision, and value proposition internally and externally.

  • Support the identification of external talent by leveraging your professional network helping to attract, engage, and appoint high-caliber candidates.

  • You will bring best practices and knowledge into Mott MacDonald's North American business by connecting with key subject matter experts worldwide within and outside of Mott MacDonald.

  • You will provide direction, mentorship and guidance to technical and junior members of staff in best practices technical delivery.

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key clients, stakeholders, and industry partners, including serving as the primary technical point of contact for clients during the delivery phase, building trust, understanding client needs, and addressing concerns.

  • Demonstrate exemplar leadership in maintaining the ethical standards and values of Mott MacDonald within the Unit, ensuring a zero tolerance of unacceptable behaviors.

  • Ensure the correct governance policies, procedures and standards are implemented and achieved within the Unit.

  • Foster an environment where best practices on health, safety and wellbeing areembedded as default.




About you




  • You will possess excellent knowledge of upcoming, landmark tunnelling / underground opportunities within the Northeast and across North America.

  • You will possess a deep understanding of delivering successful tunneling / underground projects, particularly transit-related tunnel and facility rehabilitation.

  • You are a registered PE within NY and/or NJ and have been visible in the North American tunnelling sector's industry events and scene. You will have contributed or led papers, chaired panels or won awards for the technical expertise.

  • You provide technical input into pursuits and are able to articulate a technical strategy for the delivery of work, building trust with our clients.

  • You are able to provide mentorship to employees.

  • You have an awareness of commercial expertise, emphasizing design, budget, schedule, and quality.

  • You are a visible leader who possesses exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

  • You're able to articulate your point of view with ease and comfortable presenting to a variety of different stakeholders (peers, clients, executive leadership).

  • You're a positive person who understands and appreciates the overarching vision and knows how to continuously work towards it.

  • You're able to identify areas of improvement and implement projects, policies and procedures to address.



Salary Range: $250,000 - $300,000
