Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Four (4) years of full-time professional experience in budget management, finance management, project management, grants and/or funds management or relevant experience. Proven proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel to include use of advanced formulas and functions. Preferred Qualifications:Master's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Finance, Higher Education, or other related field. Experience working in a non-profit and/or higher ed environment, especially in customer service, fundraising, or enrollment management roles. Experience managing and analyzing data and generating reports in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, etc. Experience presenting, teaching, creating and/or delivering training and other educational materials. Brief Description of Duties:The Associate Director, Philanthropic Funds serves as a partner to academic leaders in effectively spending philanthropic funds to meet their goals and demonstrate to donors the impact of their gifts. The incumbent provides professional level reporting, education and assistance in working with a diverse group of colleagues to ensure that philanthropic funds in the Stony Brook Foundation are utilized in a timely and effective manner consistent with written gifts agreements. The successful candidate should possess experience gathering, analyzing, and evaluating complex information and analyzing various databases as well as researching and resolving issues. Demonstration of integrity, trust, transparency, and compliance with policy, regulation, and laws are core requirements for the position. They should also have strong strategic and analytical thinking skills with an ability to solve problems and independently make effective decisions. The incumbent will build and leverage partnerships with academic leaders, Foundation staff and Advancement Executive Team members to assess opportunities and challenges in utilizing philanthropic funds designated for use by academic schools, colleges, and departments. The incumbent will work regularly with the Provost's Leadership Team, Dean's Offices, Academic Department Chairs, Development Officers, Foundation staff and Advancement Executive Team members on ways to utilize unspent funds and strategize on ways to amend current gift agreements to create flexibility for spending. The incumbent will regularly share information on philanthropic fund balances, answer questions regarding appropriate uses and highlight/provide assistance when funds are not being utilized correctly or in a timely fashion.Lead a plan across Academic Affairs to enhance usage of academic philanthropic funds both current use and endowed. Engage frequently in conversations and consultation with Fund Administrators, Deans, appropriate campus leaders, including Advancement and Stony Brook Foundation, on ways to utilize unspent funds and strategize on ways to amend current gift agreements to create flexibility for spending.Compile, analyze and present quarterly reporting and modeling to Fund Administrators in academic departments, dean's offices, and other academic leadership offices. Review status of funds, answer questions, and ensure adequate and appropriate spending is occurring throughout the year.Engages development officers, Foundation staff, and gift administration colleagues to ensure compliance with donor intent and all relevant advancement policies and procedures.Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.Special Notes:This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.In addition to the employee's base salary, this position is eligible for $3,400 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.
