Structural Integrity Associates, Inc. is looking for a motivated civil/structural Senior Engineer to join our Critical Infrastructures team in our San Diego, CA, San Jose, CA, or Denver, CO offices.

The Senior Engineer will provide structural engineering consulting services on advanced analysis and design projects under the supervision of senior management. The Senior Engineer will manage medium-sized projects and provide support to other project managers and engineers. Typical assignments involve 3-D modeling and engineering design and analysis of various industrial building and non-building structures and nonstructural components. The company operates in a variety of industries including design and maintenance of civil infrastructure, nuclear power, healthcare, dams and waterways, defense, pressure vessels and piping, and mechanical and electrical components.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform structural engineering analysis and design of steel and concrete structures, stress analysis of piping and components, and seismic qualification of mechanical equipment, using hand calculations or finite element analysis software.
  • Prepare technical reports and calculation documents.
  • Execute complex structural engineering tasks.
  • Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate projects of moderate scope with limited oversight.
  • Delegate tasks to other engineers.
  • Review calculations and analyses from other engineers.
  • Provide oversight and act as a resource for engineering staff working on managed projects.
  • Develop positive client relationships.
  • Represent the company, often as the sole SIA attendee at project meetings.
  • Implement SIA’s policies on safety and quality control.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • MS in Civil or Structural engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
  • 5 to 9 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience in solid mechanics, steel, concrete, seismic design/analysis, advanced structural analysis, structural dynamics, and use of advanced finite element analysis software platforms.
  • Knowledge of standard building and material codes (i.e. ASCE 7, IBC, AISC, ACI, AISI, etc.).
  • Proficiency in structural engineering or finite element analysis programs (e.g. ANSYS, ABAQUS, SAP2000, LS-DYNA, Matlab, and/or Mathcad).
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Desired Skills/Qualifications:

  • PhD in structural engineering.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience in drafting modeling software (e.g. AutoCAD/Revit, SolidWorks, or other 3D modeling software).
  • Knowledge of industry standards and code (e.g. ICC-ES AC156, IEEE 693, ASCE 41, GR-63, etc.).
  • Advanced education or experience in engineering mechanics, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, blast, shock, and impact analysis.

The expected salary range for this role in Denver, CO is $95,300 - $105,900 annually. Exact pay will be commensurate with experience.
