Accounting is one of the six areas of the Costello College of Business. The Accounting Area has diverse research and teaching interests, offering a vibrant and collegial research and teaching community. Research is highly valued, and the faculty has published in many premier accounting journals.
About the Position:
The Assistant Professor, Accounting teaches courses in undergraduate and graduate programs, conducts high-quality research, and contributes positively to the academic environment. This is a full-time position with benefits. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Summer funding is available contingent on the availability of funds.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct high-quality research for publication in top-tier academic journals;
- Teach accounting courses in undergraduate and/or graduate programs. The teaching load is determined according to the college’s workload policy;
- Provide service to the Accounting Area, the Costello College of Business, the University, and the profession, such as journal reviewing/editing, academic community engagement, student mentoring, committee membership, and interfacing with the business community.
Required Qualifications:
- PhD or equivalent in Accounting prior to the start of Fall 2025;
- Collegiality and ability to work well with colleagues;
- Ability to teach at least one of the following courses: Intermediate Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Accounting Analytics, or Tax;
- Evidence of a strong research trajectory with the potential for publications in top-tier accounting academic journals;
- Evidence of effective teaching or potential to teach effectively at undergraduate and graduate levels.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Evidence of published or “in press” research in top-tier accounting journals;
- Experienced candidates will be given preference.
