Position Summary:
Under the leadership of the President & CEO, the Director of Facilities Management is an active member of the CRHS management team that works to implement the strategic vision, goals, philosophy and direction of the enterprise. The Director is responsible for the overall operations of Facilities Management & Environmental Services. The Director works very closely with the Chief Executive Officer, Administrative Team members and Department Directors to implement strategic and tactical facilities and environmental service-related goals and objectives. The Director provides leadership and guidance to subordinate departments and employees. The Director functions at a variety of levels and provides analysis and management decision-making as well as direct hands-on work. This position also serves on internal committees within the organization dealing with the safety and well-being of patients, guests and employees. The Director provides reporting and analysis concerning department volume, performance and quality trends.

Basic Qualifications:
Education:
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management or Stationary Engineering. A Master’s degree in Industrial Relations or Human Resources is preferred.
Experience:
Requires a level of experience normally acquired with a minimum of 10 – 12 years of progressively more responsible work, management and leadership experience within a healthcare Facilities Management & Environmental Services work environment or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Licensure, Registrations & Certifications:
Requires a current state license as a Stationary Engineer.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  1. Leads and manages subordinate department and functional area managers and staff related to Facility Management & Environmental Services.
  2. Converts CRHS’s vision and goals into actionable plans and directions related to the operation of Facility Management & Environmental Services.
  3. Works with the Administrative Team to develop, update and implement the Facility Management & Environmental Services’ strategic and annual plans.
  4. Establishes both short and long-term goals for Facility Management & Environmental Services and prepares corresponding strategic and annual financial plans and ensures budget variances are within acceptable limits.
  5. Provides overall leadership, management, development and evaluations for the Management & Environmental Services’ staff.
  6. Provides leadership in the delivery of quality Facility Management & Environmental Services.
  7. Ensures that departmental quality, satisfaction and regulatory compliance standards are consistently either met or exceeded.
  8. Manage monthly operating financials for Facilities Management & Environmental Services and works with the CFO or other members of finance to develop proactive remedial actions when necessary.
  9. Works to continually improve the quality and timeliness of Facilities Management & Environmental Services provided through the department or its contractors.
  10. Prepares, implements and manages all enterprise-wide Facilities Management & Environmental Services-related policies and procedures and ensures their compliance with all federal and state laws and regulations.
  11. Ensures CRHS’s physical plant is maintained and provides a comfortable, safe and secure environment for all patients, guests and staff. Develops corrective plans to address identified issues associated with the physical plant, physical safety or security issues.
  12. Maintains and updates CRHS’s safety plan and ensures the plan complies with JCAHO requirements.
  13. Prepares the CRHS disaster plan and ensures it is updated annually. Planning and conducting the annual drills.
  14. Conducts an annual evaluation of the emergency operations plan.
  15. Manages CRHS security, coordinates with the County Sheriff the schedule the Deputy presence on hospital premises.
  16. Serves as chairperson for CRHS’s Safety Committee, prepares meeting agendas and conducts meetings on an established schedule. Serves on and is an active participant in the Infection Control and Radiation Control Committees.
  17. Works closely with the President & CEO and the Administrative Team to recommend and maintain an organizational structure and staffing levels to accomplish CRHS’s operational goals and objectives.
  18. Provides staff the opportunities to participate in staff development and regularly schedules in-service programs. Provides new employees with an orientation specific to the department, explaining the department’s mission and goals and the importance of accomplishing them.
  19. Prepares and conducts probationary and annual employee evaluations that accurately reflect the employee’s performance during the evaluation period. Provides the employees with a summary of their strengths, areas for improvement and developmental plan for the future.
  20. Utilizes technology to analyze and develop statistical measures of Facilities Management & Environmental Services’ performance metrics, reports, and programs.
  21. Ensures the continuous survey readiness of any and all regulatory agencies including Joint Commission, EEOC and other governmental agencies.
