Director of PBM Operations and Assurance

Role and Responsibilities

The Director of PBM Operations and Assurance will provide strategic and operational support to the Vice President of Operations, ensuring efficient coordination of the Liviniti Contact Center, Implementation, EDI, and Adjudication teams. This role supports department managers in delivering high-quality service to clients, members, and internal associates while driving continuous improvement and operational efficiency. The Director of PBM Operations and Assurance will fill operational gaps by addressing unassigned or emerging priorities, ensuring team alignment with business objectives. The Director of PBM Operations and Assurance is required to perform the outlined duties and professionally undertake the following responsibilities:

Administrative

  • Collaborate closely with department managers to gather insights, prioritize operational tasks, and contribute to decision-making processes to maintain performance and drive strategic goals.
  • Track important meeting conversations and drive necessary follow-ups.
  • Track external and internal company performance, ensuring high standards are maintained.
  • Identify, monitor, mitigate, and address risks, escalating them to the VP of Operations before they become critical issues.
  • Reviewing dashboards to monitor key metrics and measure company/team performance.
  • Collect information from daily duties and relay essential details to the VP of Operations.
  • Compose and organize communications and presentations for internal and external use.

Business Process and Quality Management

  • Continuously improve business processes and quality management by working with department managers to increase productivity, reduce errors, and maintain compliance with state, federal, and industry standards.
  • Work with department managers to establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and regularly report on operational risk and quality improvements.
  • Support key operational objectives to improve the quality of the member, client, and Liviniti associate experience within day-to-day operations.

Leadership and Strategy

  • Adapt to industry changes and continuously seek opportunities for learning and development to remain at the forefront of operational excellence.
  • Foster a culture of innovation by leading cross-functional initiatives focusing on operational enhancements, leveraging technology and best practices to improve service delivery.
  • Support the VP of Operations in strategic planning and client-facing activities.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Abide by all HIPAA-related Protected Health Information (PHI) obligations.
  • If a HIPAA violation is discovered, individually or by another, you must report the violation to the Compliance Officer and/or Human Resources.
  • Attend, complete, and demonstrate competency in all the required HIPAA Training the company offers.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position does not have direct reports but works closely with department managers to support operational performance. Supervisory responsibilities may evolve as the role grows.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

  • This is a full-time/exempt position.
  • Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the “core” work hours of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM CT. We cover clients from the West to the East Coast, and work times must be adjusted to cover meetings in all time zones. Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays according to industry demands.

Travel

Travel may include site visits, client meetings, and operational oversight across domestic locations.

Required Education and Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in business administration, operations management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Extensive experience in operational management, preferably in healthcare or PBM environments.
  • Strong negotiation, management, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Internet systems.
