Lead Data Engineer

Summary:
We are a fully funded, pre-product, innovative, early stage Fintech company building a cryptocurrency exchange tailored to institutional investors and professional traders. We are looking for a lead Data Engineer who is passionate about learning new technologies and enjoys building enterprise-level data warehouses and data platforms. As a Data Engineer, you will be a core member of the IT team and will report to the Head of Development. You will be developing our data, reporting, and analytics platform. Additionally, you will be responsible for building and expanding our cloud-based data pipeline architecture. You should also have a knack for finding and hiring like-minded data engineers!
The ideal candidate has experience building robust data pipelines and reporting tools and is familiar with client methodologies and frameworks. The candidate will be collaborating extensively with Business, Operations, and Product teams to support functional use-cases and take data-driven decisions.

What you'll do:
- Curate and design data models to ensure that data is accessible.
- Build highly scalable data analytics and data processing frameworks across the exchange and trading datasets.
- Experience building ETL workflows (data pipelines).
- Experience with SQL and query optimization.
- Work with CI and CD tools, and source control such as GIT and GitLab.
- Work with open-source technologies as needed.
Skills We're Seeking:
- 5+ years of data engineering and machine learning experience.
- Working with the internals of a distributed compute engine.
- Query optimization, resource allocation and management, and data lake performance.
- Strong experience with Hadoop, Elasticsearch, Redis, Cassandra, and/or Mongo.
- Modern Big-Data storage technologies (Iceberg, Hudi, Delta).
- Experience with Python and SQL.
Nice to Have's:
- FinTech industry exposure.
- Blockchain/Cryptocurrency knowledge.
- Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.
