Job Description

The Software Test Engineer (SDET) engages in test planning, writes manual and automated test cases, validates quality of software updates before they are deployed to production, and investigates issues with eCommerce sites and services.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Creating test plans to fully cover areas and features owned.
  2. Creating and executing manual and/or automated tests and analyzing results.
  3. Performing exploratory testing as part of the agile development process.
  4. Documenting issues as needed, accurately recording results through bug reports or other means.
  5. Collaborating effectively with team members.
  6. Proactively reporting status as needed.
  7. Validating regular releases to production sites.
  8. Working with customer support team to reproduce and determine cause of customer issues.

Working Relationships

Internal: Interacts with eCommerce development team, Customer Service team, as well as other corporate staff.

External: Interacts with external vendors and wireless carriers.

Qualifications

  1. 5+ years software testing experience.
  2. Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
  3. Experience with software testing methodologies and the SDLC.
  4. Ability to think outside the box for normal and not so normal scenarios.
  5. Experience with web-based testing and multi-tiered architecture.
  6. Demonstrated passion for quality and detail-oriented.
  7. Self-starter and fast learner with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  8. Team player, confident and enthusiastic.
  9. Knowledge of SQL, and basic principles of software design.
  10. One year test development in C#, .NET.
  11. Pluses – Fiddler or similar, Selenium, ecommerce experience.
  12. BA/BS or equivalent work experience, in Computer Science or related field preferred.
