WHAT YOU'LL DO
As Director, Strategic Communications - Publications , you will be the lead strategist, writer, and editor for TNTP's influential research, policy, and advocacy publications. This will include collaborating with senior leadership to design and execute TNTP's comprehensive publications strategy, and crafting data-driven narratives centered on our north star of economic and social mobility for all young people.
Your sophisticated communication skills will lay the groundwork for how diverse audiences engage with TNTP's thought leadership. You'll be a critical strategic partner for TNTP's research, policy, and advocacy teams and will also work closely with colleagues in the broader marketing and communications team to guide the design and delivery of publications.
Ideally, you will have a strong background in developing influential research, policy, and advocacy publications, exceptional writing and editing skills, experience in PK-12 education, and a passion for increasing economic and social mobility for all young people.
The Director, Strategic Communications - Publications will:
  • Draft compelling research, policy, and advocacy publications and associated collateral that resonate with stakeholders, simplify complex issues, and inspire audiences to action. This includes working closely with subject matter experts to refine a concept, develop an outline, and build a compelling narrative.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to set goals for TNTP's publications strategy, partner with Brand and Marketing on the design of reports, and coordinate across the broader communications team to maximize the reach and impact of publications.
  • Devise and implement innovative strategies to increase TNTP's relevance, visibility, and influence with new and existing audiences.
  • Build and manage trusted relationships with senior leaders and colleagues across divisions and make meaningful connections across TNTP's various priorities and programs.
  • Engage with external partners and stakeholders to promote publications and expand the organization's influence.
  • Monitor trends in education and related fields to inform publication topics and strategies.
  • Track and analyze the impact of publications, gathering feedback to inform future projects and strategies.
  • Establish and maintain strong systems and workflows to increase efficiency and support collaboration.
  • Manage team members on specific projects and contribute to an open and inclusive team culture.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
  • Demonstrated experience (at least five years) drafting high-quality research, policy, and advocacy publications and associated collateral (e.g., talking points, blog posts, fact sheets, issue briefs, presentations).
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and communications skills, including the ability to synthesize data effectively and write for different formats and audiences.
  • Portfolio of writing samples, including publications. We are looking for strong analytical writing abilities with clear, effective messages.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills with a proven ability to invest others and influence outcomes, while also respecting diverse perspectives and fostering an inclusive and collaborative team culture.
  • Experience leading effective cross-functional teams.
  • Project management skills with the ability to make decisions, work efficiently, prioritize effectively, and anticipate future needs. Track record of translating strategic thinking into action.
  • High emotional intelligence, strong listening skills, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience working in the space of education, research, policy, and advocacy.

WHAT WE OFFER
The salary range for this position is $88,000 - $132,000 . New hires can typically expect a starting salary between the salary range minimum and the range midpoint ($88,000-$110,000), in alignment with experience, qualifications, and our commitment to equity in compensation.
