Position: CARE Program Manager

The CARE Program Manager manages day-to-day strategic direction, planning, and implementation of the CAREatWork programming, including but not limited to:

  • Partnerships in SoCal Region Black Worker Organizing Hub providing strategic capacity to the emerging field of Black Worker Centers in Los Angeles, Inland Empire, and San Diego.
  • UCLA Labor Studies Black worker organizing school-to-movement pathway.
  • Strategic participatory research.
  • Communications regarding other relevant events, activities, and publications.

Responsibilities include building relationships, conducting outreach, and partnering with economic justice advocates and Black worker organizing movements locally, regionally, and nationally. Identify, establish, and cultivate relationships with local and national stakeholders, nonprofits, foundations, and community organizations.

  • UCLA provides a full pay range. Qualifications

  • 4 years Related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (Required)
  • Commitment to racial justice values and grassroots leadership approaches that center anti-Blackness and anti-racist practices and strives for a beloved community approach in which marginalized voices are centered to lead and advance center goals. (Required)
  • Knowledge of and experience with Black worker issues. (Required)
  • Interpersonal skills to interact sensitively and to establish and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, students, community members, workers, and external organization officials and staff from diverse social, cultural, and educational backgrounds. (Required)
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative team working relationships with diverse stakeholders, organizational structures, community, supervisees, other staff, and the university. (Required)
  • Proven expertise at managing a project team, building team cohesiveness, maximizing staff skills and abilities, and handling conflicts. (Required)
  • Proven management expertise to oversee complex projects, track project activities, and see activities through to completion. (Required)
  • Knowledge of and experience with popular education and participatory research techniques. (Required)
  • Skill with convening and facilitating meetings and building coalitions, alliances, or working groups. (Required)
  • Skill conceiving, developing, and working within a budget. (Required)

Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations

  • Bachelor's Degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training (Required)
