Under the direction of the program director, or branch specific designee, and consistent with the Christian mission of the YMCA and in cooperation with other YMCA staff, the After School Counselor will be directly responsible for the safety, supervision, programming and involvement with program participants at the assigned YMCA.
Requirements
The midpoint for this position is $11.87. We typically offer new hires between the min-mid of the range unless they have higher than average experience for this role.
Under the direction of the program director, or branch specific designee, and consistent with the Christian mission of the YMCA and in cooperation with other YMCA staff, the After School Counselor will be directly responsible for the safety, supervision, programming and involvement with program participants at the assigned YMCA.
- Ensure the health and safety of each participant and maintain a safe and clean program site.
- Be a positive influence and role model in the lives of participants.
- Accept the goals and objectives of the YMCA and work to achieve them.
- Take part in all training or in-service activities to develop proficiencies required performing job responsibilities.
- Attend weekly staff meeting, including the once a month metro trainings.
- Maintain positive relationships, open communication with parents, YMCA personnel, participants, administration and volunteers.
- Assist in implementing program enhancements including, but not limited to All Day Outs, Family Nights, sleepovers, and inclement weather days.
- Assume any other duties as assigned by the YMCA administration.
- Responsible for incorporating the Christian Mission of the YMCA in all program components and work relationships.
- Mature individual with good moral character and integrity.
- Possess clear communication skills with children, adults, co-workers and supervisors.
- Skills in working with children and help to make their YMCA experience a meaningful one.
- CPR certification within 30 days of hire.
- Bloodborne Pathogens training within 30 days of hire.
