Job Requirements / Description

Senior Software Engineer, Backend - Advanced Cluster Security

The Red Hat Advanced Cluster Security (RHACS) team (formerly StackRox) builds a Kubernetes-native container security solution that enables our customers to securely build, deploy, and run cloud-native applications anywhere. This team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to build security solutions helping our customers to safely operate some of the world’s largest commercial Kubernetes clusters in private and public clouds.

We design workflows to secure our customers’ Red Hat OpenShift and Kubernetes deployments across the full software development life cycle. You will contribute to the team’s mission to continue differentiating Red Hat OpenShift as the most secure distribution of Kubernetes using tools like KubeLinter (a solution to validate security and operational readiness best practices).

With a growing product and a strong mission, you’ll be able to make an immediate impact on our offering, APIs, architecture , and engineering processes. With Kubernetes adoption rapidly growing, the team constantly faces new challenges like simplifying our customer deployments, improving performance to enable scaling across multiple dimensions, or even building a cloud-native managed service flavour of RHACS. Through all of this, you will ensure our offering just works for those getting started with Kubernetes and experts alike.

We are a fully remote team with colleagues working from different countries across Europe and are looking for engineers who thrive in an environment with a lot of autonomy. Successful applicants must reside in a country where Red Hat is registered to do business.

What you can expect to do

  • Write high-quality maintainable Go code using a principled, design-document-first approach.
  • Collaborate in a team committed to continuous improvement on tech, design, APIs, testing, and process.
  • Solve technical challenges on topics like efficient data collection, event processing, storage, and persistence.
  • Own the entire life cycle through design, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Assist the Customer Support team in troubleshooting and resolving customer issues.
  • Build a personal brand through technical blog posts and visibility in the open-source community.

What makes you a good fit

  • You have a strong software engineering background with multiple years of experience in delivering quality software.
  • You are open to learn new technologies, programming languages, and concepts; we work in Go, but we care much more about your general engineering skills.
  • You enjoy delivering high-quality software with considerations for design, performance and scalability.
  • You are passionate about the user's perspective and want to build a product to be loved.
  • You have prior experience designing extensible and maintainable APIs.
  • You thrive in a collaborative environment while working with various stakeholders and subject matter experts.

Some things that will make you stand out

  • Experience with scalable distributed systems.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Kubernetes.
  • Expertise or interest in the security domain.
  • Contributions to open source projects.
  • Experience with cloud-native application development.

The salary range for this position is $111,260.00 - $183,580.00. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.
