Job Title: Electrical Design EngineerJob DescriptionThis position is responsible for leading and designing the electrical power distribution and signal network for the auxiliary equipment of our Gas Turbine projects. Our voltage levels are primarily in the low-voltage side (600V and below) with the implementation of equipment such as MCCs, LV Transformers, DC Systems, and Batteries.ResponsibilitiesDevelop single-line diagrams, panelboard schedules, electrical load lists, motor lists, wiring diagrams, control schematics, and cable schedules.Create power system plans, lighting plans, electrical room layouts, elevation drawings, conduit/cable tray arrangements, and hazardous area classifications.Perform calculations, including sizing of equipment (breakers, overload devices, relays), cables/conduits/equipment spacing, and illumination levels.Develop and review electrical, control, and instrumentation wiring diagrams and cable lists using SmartPlant Electrical (SPEL) or SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI).Prepare purchase specifications for electrical equipment and select vendors to construct electrical packages.Generate electrical drawing packages to document logic, point-to-point wiring, and system interaction.Interpret and design according to code requirements from authorities over electrical installations and understand applicable electrical codes (NEC/NFPA 70, CEC, IEC, ISA, AGA, etc.).Meet regularly with vendors to ensure all technical and schedule requirements are met.Integrate design requirements from the parent company.Respond to technical inquiries from customers, vendors, and field personnel.Utilize SmartPlant Electrical (SPEL), SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI), and SmartPlant 3D (S3D) to design electrical power and control systems.Maintain current knowledge of electrical and instrumentation design for industrial facilities.Preferred experience with generators (150 MVA ratings and above) for Gas or Steam Turbines and their auxiliaries.Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures, reporting unsafe activities to management or HR.Participate in team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals and contribute to building a positive team spirit.Communicate effectively with all levels of employees.Handle various assignments, including rework, in a timely manner to meet schedule deadlines.Ensure quality by following standard work/process instructions and identifying any potential risks to product quality.Develop schedules, coordinate, and manage design projects with minimal supervision.Simplify product designs for improved manufacturability and reduced costs without compromising quality and function.Assist Sales, Marketing, and Development Engineering with projects to enhance existing and develop new product lines.Meet schedule requirements for project engineering deliverables.Provide technical support during the manufacturing and commissioning of equipment.Lead junior engineers and interns and support their development.Travel up to 10%.Essential SkillsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.Minimum three (3) years of technical and/or practical experience in industrial facility power distribution design (up to 600VAC and 220VDC) with signal propagation.Strong familiarity with National Electric Code NFPA 70.Knowledge of electrical codes and industry standards such as NEMA, IEC, IEEE, ISA, ANSI, NFPA 70E, UL, CSA, TUV, ISA, and AGA.Additional Skills & QualificationsInclination towards computer programming languages.Experience with SmartPlant Electrical, SmartPlant Instrumentation, SmartSketch, SmartPlant 3D, AutoCAD, and lighting calculation software (DIALux, Visual, etc.).Experience with Revit 3D or comparable 3D electrical design tools.Experience with generators for Gas or Steam Turbines is a plus.Work EnvironmentThis position is based in the office in Lake Mary, FL. The role offers a hybrid schedule with 3 days in the office and 2 days remote.
